    Worst Possible things for FO3?

I've always thought pure turn-based combat was a little hoaky, but very fun. Hoaky in the sense that I can run right up to a crowd of gun toting highwaymen and deck one of them twice before anyone ever squeezed off a shot. An experienced stealth type maybe, a newb to the wastes.....not so...

    "Kill All Chechyens!"

From what I've read they were naked because it was actually incredibly hot in the gymnasium. I'm guessing some were naked because they weren't allowed restroom breaks either and probably soiled themselves. And I realize the title of this post is sarcastic, but in all seriousness - if this...

    Worst Possible things for FO3?

LOL, I've already been properly chastised for that. Also, I read Bethesda is shooting for a "strong Mature" rating, so it is a dead issue in that regard too.

Fair enough, fair enough. I've seen it used as an excuse so many times I thought it was more pervasive than it really is. Ah, they = the publisher. Gotcha. I doubt it. Well I was just pointing out it was being made...didn't intend it to be part of the argument. The quote was...

Playing an evil character and having a "Mature" rating are two different issues, they just weren't in ToEE. Playing a bad guy is trendy, having a "Mature" label on the game, thus keeping it off alot of shelves, is something many publisher's won't do. I can't count the number of times I have...

And you have conclusive proof this won't happen with their current publisher? They've already stated its going to be an uphill battle just to get turn-based combat in the game, imagine the brick the suits are going to shit when they learn a big fat "Mature" label is going to find its way onto...

I'm still on the fence about the Bethesda thing. I may be totally off base but I think its going take someone with either deep pockets or nothing to lose to produce a "Mature" rated game that Fallout needs to be. I don't think Troika is either of these. They may put mature content in...

Well look at the bright side....in all likelihood we're still going to get a PA RPG, just the way we like them, and the developers don't have to be constrained by the already existing Fallout lore. Not ideally what we want but its the next best damn thing. Might even turn out better than...

    Troika's PA RPG shots!!

Out of curiosity, where might I find some independent games developer's works? Is there anything of any significance out there?

Cutscenes are neat the first time or two I play the game. After that I find myself hitting buttons to try and skip the cutscenes. They add plenty of value the first time or two through the game, but for people like me that play and replay and replay and replay a game they get annoying...

My point really had nothing to do with cutscenes.....I was just providing an example of 3D technology that wasn't first person or third person camera-right-behind-the-PC. It can be done and done well. Cutscenes are neat, but they're not going to make or break a game for me.

If I'm not mistaken Age of Mythology is a good example of this. 3D engine, isometric view, along with cutscenes that zoom in to view the conversations at varying angles and distances. With 3D its easier to get different elevations as well, something I always thought would improve the tactical...

    What's Your Favorite Drink?

A Manhattan. The first one tastes like shit but you won't taste anything else the rest of the night. I don't even know what all makes a Manhattan, but I know its mostly Bourbon which I have found to be a very high energy drunk.

Yeah, this is good stuff. This needs to find its way to the developer's bulleting board. I like Morrowind, but that's mainly because I have a runaway imagination and can "force" myself to roleplay and to ignore the repetitive conversations. I also like the leveling system - to increase a...

    Since we're talking stuff.

Don't most games have a manual these days? I thought the PDF crap was left for old re-releases and compilations. At least, every game I have bought came with a manual....maybe not a nice spiral bound one, but a manual nonetheless. Though I will say the "art" of the manual leaves something to...

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

Hi everyone! Just emerged from my bubble and noticed FO3 might actually be a reality! I used to lurk here all the time for all the good FO1/2 tips, kinda gave up when the mods were slow going. Anyway, I look forward to following this game in its development, not to mention some of the best...
