Books & how to read ?

My guess is that the pre-war books are valuable to an NPC somewhere in the game. I've found quite a lot of them and are holding onto them, just dunno where they need to end up.

Launching the ICBM, getting ahead of game?

Are you talking about Highwater Trousers? If so I was disapointed when watching the things fall, standing on top of the tower watching them explode all around me in mini nuclear clouds, only to afterwards bring up VATS and see Radscorps, a few robots and Yao Guai standing around as if nothing...

Fallout 3's Megaton safe from Japanese gamers

Aye, having played a few different Japanese games (well it was all in Japanese so just random button mashing) there is a lot of weird shit IMO in those games. And yeah, so much for only having one version of the game. Will they censor the Chinese stuff in the game for the Chinese audience?

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #44

Re: Yes, I'm being sarcastic. They evidently forgot or neglected to add weights to all the ammo in the game, not at home ATM but have something like 6-7 fatman nukes and at least 15 missles, not to mention hundreds of rounds of various types of ammo.

    Gamasutra kills children

I took the 'heart of a child' perk fairly early on because I figured, they put such a perk in for a reason as A) You can't kill kids and B) If there is such a perk there must be a location or quest you can use said perk on. And bam, not long after I run into Little Lamplight area. Haven't...

    Dunwich building (Spoilers)

It's in the very SW of the world map, is a dark grey/black building, very tall but there's really nothing else around it. Thanks for the info. Have never read of Lovercraft's work so I had no clue what the entire building was in refference to but still had fun. As for the ammo caches yeah...

    Dunwich building (Spoilers)

Made my way completely through the building and had some fun but came out with more questions then going in. First the positives: Very suspenseful, ghouls are frightening but I found it was easy to one shot them using my laser pistol and sneak crit shooting them. The flashback (while only...

Full Apology: Total Reversal On Earlier Praise

Perhaps silly thinking on my part but as soon as I left 101 I headed due west, away from the main quest. Recently made it to some small town (name is beyond me at the moment) with some chick that loves Nuka Cola. Then headed further south to some building with a bunch of ghouls inside it...

Am I missing something, or is combat really this awful?

I like to think of VATS as in game binoculars. Just as soon as I left the vault rather than heading down and to the right down the road I climbed up behind the vault to the left and found the bridge, saw some guys on the bridge and brought up VATS and bam, could instanstly see what they looked like.

In another thread someone said Target had it for cheaper than MSRP.

    Questions About Fallout 3

Perhaps a stupid grammar question but I noticed when you start the game it's listed as Fallout. 3 What's with the period? I can't recall if the first two were similar as I've not played them in a while (although meaning to get them through GOG)

Am I missing something, or is combat really this awful?

Well, just left the vault as I've not had much time to play it yet (will get to it this weekend) but yeah, can bash people's heads in in the vault and they don't defend themselves, and what's with the blood splatter, it's way too much and looks awful. As an aside though you can use Z to move...

    Tidbits on Fallout 3 reviews

As in the console has the same damn hardware, hence no need to test different hardware configurations as if you were testing for PC configurations.

    Fallout 3 & SecuROM

Not the first to point it out but just want to bring up some points: 1) Do Bethesda and other companies realize that DRM actually promotes piracy, as in pirates don't even have to leave the house, can download it with the DRM already stripped and are good to go. Where as honest, paying...

Am I missing something, or is combat really this awful?

As long as they are killable and don't just 'pass out' only to get back up as if you didn't just try to bash their brains in, then it's ok.

Playing on Very Hard: It Means One Thing Only...

A tad off topic but still relevent to your post: I really enjoyed this aspect in Vanilla STALKER. Going out into the wastes with my favorite gun(s) only to run out of ammo, have to ditch it for whatever is lying around and make do.

    Buy the originals!

Will purchase em this weekend. Just ever since I got this x64 PC I've had a lot of older games not able to install, while others work without a problem. Well, even if they don't work I'm not out much cash and still support Interplay.
