Fallout 3 Is Better Than You Think - Many A True Nerd

Since he says it's not the RPG elements or the writing, I'd wager it's the less clunky and more streamlined way of producing the same sort of open world simulation and FPS experience that New Vegas also had going for it, and Beth's much busier "go see what useless shit lies behind that next...

    Fallout 76 announced!

Yea, Chris has tweeted he's not working on it. That's the clearest hint among the rest of the nonsense there.

    E3 2018

Yeah, I've no idea what to expect, if anything, nor when. But I do remember them hinting somewhere late last year (I think it was) that some kind of reveal could maybe possibly perhaps or something be expected in one of the big game conferences this year. E3 gets probably the most visibility and...

    E3 2018

Possible reveals of Cyberpunk 2077 and Obsidian's Cain/Boyarsky game (getting a glimpse of what kind of games they strive to be, whether to look forward to or not). Don't know of anything else of any interest that might be there.

He could... But it does nothing to the game if he writes a companion a couple of quests.

    E3 Fallout News Thread

Can't really care what it is before it is something, and even then, it's likely I can't care.

Recent movies (last 20 years or so) that you'd consider a classic or a potential future classic?

Likewise. EDIT - Speaking of which, some recent news inform that Villeneuves Dune adaptation is going to be made in two parts. So it'll likely hit the 4-5 hour mark when both are out.

Recent movies (last 20 years or so) that you'd consider a classic or a potential future classic?

I'd want to see the "original" 4-hour version of Bladerunner 2049 and the 3,5-hour version of Silence.

Recent movies (last 20 years or so) that you'd consider a classic or a potential future classic?

Yeah, it's the "biggest" movie on my list. Clooney and some others had a pretty minuscule roles in the end, though. The director was very... artistic in what he wanted on screen. Like, for example Jim Caviezel's "lead" part was more of an accident than intent. That's why I love Malick, he...

Recent movies (last 20 years or so) that you'd consider a classic or a potential future classic?

I prefer more 'niche' and 'arthouse' stuff. Blockbusters tend to feel too... clinical and messy for me, and even when good and entertaining, I can't get myself to appreciate them as much as I probably should. I've no idea how much any these might have potential to become a 'classic' in their...

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

I'm almost willing to bet that what ever the game will be, it'll not have any of the grain and jaggedness that made the original series so special, but instead be an overproduced, overdeveloped, overstreamlined and overpolished (possibly multiplayer centric) open world first person shooter like...

(Theorizing) How Would You Implement Player Housing in Fallout 2?

The point of the main quest isn't really supportive of a "playerhouse", nor are the distances between settlements. The Chosen One isn't supposed to settle down once outside of Arroyo, but be in search for a remedy to the tribes predicament before it's too late. At most the player might find and...

    The Decline of Obsidian?

Wow, he seems to be letting it all out once and for all now. He's been posting there for hours on end.

RPGs can become much more “radical” but hardcore players are “resistant to change”, says Obsidian

It's the mistaken general notion that choice and stat improvement alone make an RPG. That's the problem with moder RPG's. Getting to do more damage with your shooting or having the teasiest bit of choice in something narrative related is considered an RPG, when it's really much more complex than...

    The Bethesda-fication of Fallout 4

It's a nice video, but to be honest, a lot of that is just stating the obvious yet again, mostly about quest design and narrative while talking about gameplay seemed to be left in the marginal intentionally, and at the end of even excused with the notion of who made the "better FPS" out of it...

RPGs can become much more “radical” but hardcore players are “resistant to change”, says Obsidian

There are arguments that use concrete logic within the context of the subject matter and then there are arguments that use personal feeling. "it's just not very engaging gameplaywise" is the latter, and kinda seemed pointless where you put it. I wasn't arguing for "I like this, so should you"...

RPGs can become much more “radical” but hardcore players are “resistant to change”, says Obsidian

Indeed. There's a world of possibilities there I've waited for some brave company to explore. Obsidian always seemed like the ideal candidate for that, but it would seem they're now wanting to strive away from them for some reason I can't really figure out.

RPGs can become much more “radical” but hardcore players are “resistant to change”, says Obsidian

This is an opinion. Yes, you do. The key here a rogue, a hunter, a what ever. If the stats didn't simulate that to different degrees as per how you play, you would, just like you would in Thief or Half Life, and then the experience of that rogue or hunter would always be the same. There'd be...

If you were to build a Fallout like Game....

Obviously I'd start with emulating the original games as far as I could; cavalier oblique perspective, TB combat, point'n click gameplay. I'd add combat features, but generally I'd hold on to the simplistic trappings to not make combat too heavy handed; I'd broaden the skill system and ramp up...
