There is definitely more of a connection to a show pre-dvr when you had to make a conscious effort to be in front of the TV at a certain time on a certain day. I still remember watching the premier of TNG with my dad, it was a big deal for us since he watched TOS growing up.

Burton's Planet of the Apes was horrible, you should re-watch it on a bad movie night. I fault Burton for thinking Depp could hold a candle to Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka.

He also did Dark Shadows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Planet of the Apes, so I stand by Batman being a decent Burton film. I never said Burton was great, but the man is nowhere near a bad director.

Even as a preteen watching Howard the Duck I thought that she was going to bang the duck. Burton's Batman was a decent Tim Burton movie, but not a great Batman movie. Beetlejuice though, fucking classic on all levels.

Ghostbusters is one of those movies that is the epitome of the 80's, that and Molly Ringwald's panties.
