most perks require a certain stat at a certain level, but what if u use mentats and buffout to raise stats the moment you level up?

Had a kewl bug in one of the 1st missions with the underground turrets : farsight did 240 damage in one shot. To beat teh turrets I go into ctb and lie them down, letting them shoot at the sensors, but when killing the turrets I only get like 20 XP ??
