Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

We're making progress slowly but surely, implementing dozens of opcodes over the last few months. That said, sfall has hundreds of opcodes and features so it'll be a while before everything is implemented. What features are you looking/waiting for?

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

You do not need Fallout 2 to run Sonora. Replacing files manually from your F2 folder will probably just mess things up. What error were you seeing when you launched "fallout2-ce-x64.exe"? (I'm assuming you're on window)

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

You can pick any random container in most city maps. I can't think of any that reset (that doesn't mean there aren't any…)

I think that's worth considering, though it would also make it a lot harder to detect an error when it occurs

Nice! I just tried to repro with Dominguez and couldn't. (Still easy to repro with his kids if you need a save game.)

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

@Cambragol A few more translation bugs for ya: NCSherif: {318}{}{Maybe...maybe... I had some other quesitons though.} FCCrvBos: {335}{}{I had a few quesitons before we head out.} (might've already reported that one) Hermosillo: Dominguez's children seem to be supposed to have a dialog...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

@Euchale I used to have sound crackling with CE, and it went away when I rebooted my device. I'm interested in helping getting it working better for you if you're willing to serve as a guinea pig. What hardware are you using? Are you using the latest release from...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

Repair, Science, and Doctor are all used moderately frequently. Steal and Lockpick are also used, though mostly for better loot (and you need high Steal skill to get good loot, unlike F2). Note that there are items that allow you to pass Repair, Lockpick, and Doctor checks more easily. Speech...

    Could you give F2:CE a shot? https://github.com/fallout2-ce/fallout2-ce/releases/tag/continious

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

Dr. Sep, what version of the game, engine, OS, &c. are you using?

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

Nice! I highly recommend using the latest version of CE (here: https://github.com/fallout2-ce/fallout2-ce/releases/tag/continious) instead of 1.3 though.

    Reverse engineering Fallout 2

@Lexx When you have a minute, could you review https://github.com/fallout2-ce/fallout2-ce/discussions/136#discussioncomment-13254444 to see if I was able to extract the majority of the sfall dependencies for Fo1in2, and if there are any identified that aren't actually needed to get the base game...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

@Cambragol Here's a batch of awkward phrases I've encountered playing over the last week or so. (I've been working on F2:CE more than playing though… oops) TCMotel.msg {200}{}{(reluctantly turns in your direction) All rooms are occupied.} {201}{}{But half the keys are hanging there behind the...

    Reverse engineering Fallout 2

Poking around a bit, CE does have pretty decent sfall support already. For instance arrays: https://github.com/alexbatalov/fallout2-ce/pull/269 and global scripts (https://github.com/alexbatalov/fallout2-ce/issues/200) exist. I'll have to see what's missing in terms of hooks

    Reverse engineering Fallout 2

@Lexx I hear you. In general, getting Fallout 1 running correctly in F2:CE is something I've been thinking about so that two versions of the engine don't have to coexist (F:CE exists, but it's very unlikely it'll be maintained at the same level as F2:CE). Could you point me to some docs about...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

Nice! That's a nice touch. I largely agree that that. It would be hard to add a character as rich as, say, Harold in Fallout 1, to Sonora without a lot of surgery. I think the main thing is making the stakes seem "real" and believable enough for the player to make interesting (and hopefully...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

(from FCTom.msg) I realize now there's more to this than just the mine administrator quest to repair the machine. When you return to Villa, the repair of the machine triggers the resolution of the Villa–Flagstaff tensions on the theory that the mine labour is now "automated". (At least, I...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

:). It jumped out at me as non-spanish speaker (albeit, I live somewhere with lots of spanish speakers so it's common to have a familiarization with the pronunciation). Got it! I haven't made it to the Pier yet but I can target the Rangers next. Re: editorially: I agree. This pass I'm...

Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.15 and Sonora Dayglow 1.15 Vanilla Translation

FInishing off Flagstaff. As always, there are very few typos or much to quibble with. I think it'll take me quite a while to get through the whole game (I also haven't played through the whole thing either). Are there any areas you think could use attention more than others?
