This almost always happens to me.

Do a full 360 of the area with the blood. I've noticed some very strange line-of-sight problems with the game.

I think deathclaws were genetically engineered creatures, not random mutations due to radiation.

I can run Wasteland under XP without the use of any slowdown programs. Of course, I've only played for about two minutes, so combat or something might be super fast...

I thought the bonus mission was kinda lame, and not a challenge at all. Funny, though.

I killed them pretty early in the game, right before the first mission with super mutants, and even then only because I got lucky and had a rocket launcher and one rocket back at the base. Vindicators own.

I believe it's hard to exploit because the deathclaw is busy tearing you apart.
