    Children of Men

Yeah, you would think they'd shy away from that (as critically acclaimed and commercially successful as the Harry Potter movie was, it was still a kids' movie) and focus more on, say, Y tu Mama Tambien, which was notable for its.... graphic sex scenes. Incidentally, it was also critically...

    Children of Men

Yeah, I've heard of "Sexmission" :) The thing about this movie is that the sci-fi/thriller aspects of the story don't seem to be particularly showcased. It very well could turn out to be a moralistic story, or some kind of heavy-handed metaphor. Heh, yeah. Genesis P. Orridge is a manchick ;)...

    Children of Men

I just saw this, and thought that maybe you guys would be interested in it. It's kind of a post-modern apocalypse-in-progress movie. It's about all women on Earth suddenly becoming barren, and of course, there's one pregnant woman that may hold the key to keeping the human race alive...

    The Music Genome Project

Last.fm was better, but they've resorted to using plugins and such, which is not a welcome change from what they had before. Now pretty much all you have is Pandora, unless you want to download software for the express purpose of letting a website know what you're listening to. It would be a lot...

Love The Bomb RPG is out

So this is a LARPG? I'll have to get some kids together and test it out. Could be interesting.

    Quake 4

Well, they're made by the same people, so obviously something from Duke Nukem got into FEAR.

    Some Van Buren questions

I had some questions about Van Buren, since I plan on salvaging as much as I can from it for Fallout PnP, as I'm sure some people here have. I'm aware I'll have to do 99 percent of the work for it, but there are some general big-picture things I'm not entirely clear on as to the plotting of...

    10 best games.

Ah hell, 10 best games I've ever played: Full Throttle Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy Doom Morrowind (still like Oblivion, but Morrowind is better) Fallout 1/2 KOTOR Baldur's Gate 2 GTA: Vice City Half-Life That about sums it up.

Next Generation Five That Fell editorial

Yeah, that BG / Fallout comparison is kind of dim. I liked Baldur's Gate (2 more than 1), but they had little similarity beyond isometric perspective.

So there's zero chance of fmf SPECIAL 3.0 ever seeing the light of day? :(

    Fallout d20 Creators Announced

I'd play d20 fallout, and I'd consider the pursuit of such to be worthwhile, but it'd take a pretty good d20 config to beat SPECIAL. That doesn't mean d20 Fallout will be worthless, it just won't be the same. I'm very interested in what could be done. At the very least, it should allow for new...

    Fallout d20 Creators Announced

I played the SPECIAL Fallout PnP for awhile, and I thought it was really well done. Wish they could have gotten on that instead of d20. It really does not fit.

How did you discover Fallout ?

Played the demo from a stolen PC-Gamer magazine demo disc, begged parents for Fallout for Christmas. Got it and was hooked.

    Todd Howard questionnaire at Next-Gen

You've a good point there, and I would choose Fallout over Fallout 2, given they traded over some of the nice cosmetic perks that made Fallout 2 less laborious (better party and inventory systems, etc.) The Master was certainly better than the President, but Fallout seems so sparse in comparison...

    Todd Howard questionnaire at Next-Gen

I liked Fallout 2, as messy as it was. In fact, I prefer it to the original. I liked it because it felt more expansive, was generally easier to play more than once, and because I was a child when it came out and the idea of the Enclave was just so awesome to me. I liked both of them, certainly...

    Todd Howard questionnaire at Next-Gen

It seems both Black Isle offspring had problems with buggy games. Vampire was horrific (the Source engine's inherent problems might have been to blame, though) and Arcanum might have been the sloppiest game I've ever played. So yes. I'm aware that F2 is more Obsidian than Troika. I still like...

    Todd Howard questionnaire at Next-Gen

When I think of what made Fallout really special, I think of the sharp writing and attention to detail and dialogue that Black Isle employed. Bethesda sorely lacks that. I can hope that they'll do a decent job, if they pay enough attention to F1/2, but they're not going to be able to nail it...
