    FO2: Ironman Build

After a very quick destruction using 'jinxed' (the crazed robot in Klamath got me on a lost turn), am going to try this build: STR - 6 PER - 6 END - 10 CHA - 2 INT - 9 AGI - 8 LCK - 6 Primary weapon: Unarmed Traits: Gifted, Good Natured Tag: Sneak, Lockpick, Speech Perk...

    Rate my "Slayer"

Whether you plan to play Ironman, are trying to reload as little as possible, or are trying to make an uber character (reloading as often as necessary) will have a lot to do with your decisions. If you're going ironman, you'll need a luck of at least '6' as trying to do a melee ironman...

    FO2: Ironman Build

After delaying for a while, I finally did finish off that Ironman game. Gave Navarro and then the Enclave their comeuppance and sailed back to San Fran. Here's the post Enclave stats: http://members.cox.net/voros/ironman3.TXT The sniper Ironman build really isn't that hard even on the...

    FO2: Ironman Build

Well I'm in San Francisco so it looks good for me finishing the game unless I screw up in Navarro (generally you can avoid death there with the kind of equipment you now have). This time around I took two levels of toughness at levels 3 and 6 and it seemed to help. Amazingly I haven't really...

    FO2: Ironman Build

My most recent Ironman death was a crit hit suffered upstairs at bishops. One of his henchmen burst a Combat Shotgun that passed through my armor. After several failed Ironman attempts, I think I'm going to update my FAQ to address ways to avoid the most common deaths. I will re-iterate...

New Fallout 3 screenshot and Todd Howard speaks

That's not really the point. It's a resources issue. If you compare an arcade Baseball game like MVP and a simulator with little to no actual animated graphics like Diamond Mind, you'll find that each are putting a similar level of strain on your system. Diamond Mind just happens to be directing...

New Fallout 3 screenshot and Todd Howard speaks

I don't have a problem with folks who like them, I don't. 1) "Real-time" RPG is a fiction. As much as they like to pretend otherwise, you can't "play a role" in real time without a script. The way I would react to some anonymous enemy ambushing me, and the way a guy who has spent the last...

New Fallout 3 screenshot and Todd Howard speaks

Consider yourself fortunate. I loathe First Person Shooters. With the passion of a thousand burning suns I loathe them. If I'd never played either Fallout once or had ever even seen them, I'd still loathe first person shooters. Look, I'm getting close to 40 now, I'm part of the first...

    FO2: Ironman Build

May favorite Ironman death of all-time was when I blew myself up at the one door in the Temple of Trials. I got cute and set the timer for :30 and it went off immediately, thus concluding the shortest Ironman game in history. Had a good laugh.

    FO2: Ironman Build

Glad To see this thread still getting hits. It definitely can be done in Fallout 2 on Hard Combat as I did it. You just have to be tough as hell (hit points, damage resistance, and best armor available to you) and learn when to run away. Inevitably sometimes you're just going to get a...

    The Chests of Broken Hills

One tip. When you first start heading east around the buildings, there will be a part where you may feel like you're stuck. You'll be on the west side of the corral. You'll be able to see the east side of the corral, but might not be able to click there (getting an 'x' in your circle). What...

    The Chests of Broken Hills

That's incorrect. It can be done, I have done it. As someone else said, the only way to do it is counter-clockwise. In other words you have to start off heading east and just click on the extreme outside of the map to have your character walk around out of view. You may have to move the...

Evaluate your personality based on the "Fallout"-s

STR: 4 (Only because I'm fat) PER: 8 (I'm able to spot unattainable women from miles away) END: 1 (I had to take an hour break before finishing this post) INT: 3 (See how I spell 'SPEICAL'?) CHA: 2 (You got a problem with that?) AGI: 7 (I'm able to tie my shoes without falling down) LCK: 2...

    [FO2] Heavy Handed trait?

A quick question on the Heavy Handed trait: Does it reduce how often you get criticals AND the quality of the criticals, or does it only affect frequency of criticals and not their quality?

    Damage Resistance question.

You can lose pretty easily in Boxing. If you critically miss, you lose. Same goes for your opponent. It's can become especially dangerous when using targeted shots.

    FO2: Ironman Build

I didn't mean not to use them at all (I used them plenty in my game) just not to use them to make perk requirements. But as you mention, I now realize you can do as you say and simply avoid going into the character screen until you've boosted your stats.

Thanks, didn't know that. (Hmm, would have helped me with that mutant with the rocket launcher). Adjusted the FAQ to only talk about dead NPC bodies.

    FO2: Ironman Build

Yeah I'll post how I started the game and my thoughts in the FAQ. While I'm working on it, here's the printout of my stats grabbed from while I was in the Enclave docks before I went in to finish the game. http://members.cox.net/voros/ironman.TXT
