Poster/trailer for upcoming sci-fi movie Oblivion

I saw a commercial for this last night. It wasn't even the full trailer - it was a commercial to get people to go online to watch the trailer. Based on nothing more than that commercial and the news post here on NMA, my prediction is this: [spoiler:6de999a83e]The supposedly extraterrestrial...

    No Mutants Allowed front-page redesign

You've raped the NMA site layout! I'm boycotting NMA!!! Seriously, though, I think it's pretty sharp

Wasteland 2 adds over $150K in a day, passes $1.8M

I admit - I'm a slacker. I finally put in my Kickstarter pledge, though. I didn't even know it was linked to Amazon. If I had, I would have pledged sooner (I didn't have my credit card on me before).

The Age of Decadence public beta released

From the unofficial FAQ: What system requirements will this game require to play? TGE system requirements are Pentium III 1000, 512 MB RAM. About the graphics card, AoD worked fine on GeForce4 MX440 with 64mb onboard. We'll be able to be more precise about this before release.

    Chris Avellone interview

That's how I read it, too. Since the publishers really aren't paying attention to DLC, developers have more freedom. Thus, MCA enjoyed what they were able to do with the DLCs.

Bethesda claims Interplay could only use the Fallout name

But...Bethesda already made a "Fallout in name only". Why would they want Interplay to do it again?

Fallout: New Vegas DLC announced - Dead Money

Sounds pretty damned r-tarded, having everything to do with Vegas and nothing to do with Fallout. I suspect this was Beth's idea and they made Obsidian develop it.

    Hello, old friend

I think Perry can do well as a "smooth talking, two faced gangster". He's not a tough guy - he'd be more of a smart manipulator.

Fallout: New Vegas Set to Feature Transphobia?

I have 2 points. 1. I said I would be likely to laugh at a person acting like a buffoon. "Acting like a buffoon" does not include being born a particular race, holding certain beliefs, or being a certain gender (or believing one is a certain gender). To the specific example at hand, some...

Fallout: New Vegas Set to Feature Transphobia?

Yes, actually. They may be ignorant, and they may be wrong, but they have the right to laugh at whatever they think is funny. They are NOT entitled to discriminate against a person based on race. If a person acts like a buffoon, I might laugh; and i won't feel a bit guilty about it.

Fallout: New Vegas Set to Feature Transphobia?

Sometimes, yes. They have the right to wear and behave how they want (within the law). I have the right to laugh at what I find humorous.

    New Fallout: New Vegas screenshots

I suspect this is as good as it's going to get for SM textures. I don't think we'll see anything in 3D that looks as good as the 10+ year old talking heads for quite some time. Much improved over Beth's version, anyway. I may end up trying out NV, after skipping "FO3" completely.

    Brian Fargo Interview

Maybe Fargo can be considered a sperm donor for Fallout, having worked on Wasteland and giving the go-ahead to develop Fallout, but Fallout was definitely raised by Cain, Boyarksy, Anderson, et al.

Fallout 3 mods on the Xbox

Let's see...$150 for a modded 360, plus about $300 for an unmodded one to play online Or This: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103236 for the same money to run whatever Fallout 3 mods you want.

Further Level Cap Increases Could Unbalance 'Fallout 3'

That's verisimilitude. In real life if you catch a bullet in the wrong place, you're dead. Even if you're wearing armor, a randomly flying bullet can end you in an instant. That's why games have a save/load feature. If you can't fail, how rewarding is it to succeed?

Age of Decadence's Choices and Consequences

When I first heard about this game, I was finishing reading Jack Whyte's "Camulod Chronicles" - historical fiction based on the Arthur legend set largely in Britain at and after the fall of Rome. Definite post-apoc elements - not just the breakdown of "social order", but the abrupt...

The Dark Knight of Role Playing Games

Been replaying Torment with the Fixpack, Unfinished Business, and Widescreen mods. It's still as cool as it was 10 years ago. I have Icewind Dale, but never got too far into it. I'll have to give it another shot.

    Bethesda talks Fallout: New Vegas

Obsidian is perhaps the only active developer who could take on Fallout and do it justice. This has the potential to be the true sequel we've wanted for 10+ years. We all know, though, that potential =/= product. Hopefully Obsidian negotiated creative control as part of the deal. At the...
