    Chris Avellone interview

Avellone was the lead designer for Van Buren and it's clear that much of the "ground work" for NV was recycled from Van Buren. Methinks MCA did an awful lot of work then (in terms of characetrs etc) that was re used in NV.

Bethesda: IPLY intends to undermine F3's plotline

I'd say Fallout was an RPG. Getting subjective here, but RPGs- from all subgenres are about people, and by people I mean characters. Even Final Fantasy 7 is about Cloud and cohorts- who are characters who are individuals (some more so than others, some more interesting than others, but the...

    Why Fallout: New Vegas crashes

For open world games it also makes intuitive sense- as the player does more in the world, the save game bloats and it takes longer to load all the info. I was just pointing out that it's not a new thing in New Vegas- which seemed to be what sampson70 implied.

    Why Fallout: New Vegas crashes

In my experience, load times becoming longer as you play more has been a "feature" of New Vegas, Fallout 3, Oblivion and Morrowind.

And those 95% also don't find themselves making games from buggy foriegn engines.

Bethesda changes law firm.. but not lawyers (Updated)

Thats actually funnier. They changed law firm to keep this incompetant hack.

Fallout: New Vegas Dead Money factsheet

Ok, and with Red Dead Redemption's zombie add on, that makes about three add ons I can think of from the last 4 years (the other two being for Dragon Age and Red Alert 3). Add ons, while they still happen, are very much the exception rather than the rule. I think Ausir is currently sort of...

Fallout: New Vegas' bugs due to its size

I don't have the game yet (My reason being that it'd be far to buggy until patches arrive). For those of you that do, given that this is a game by Obsidion using Bethesda's hillariously glitchy engine, is New Vegas more or less buggy than you expected? If less, well, isn't that a worrying...

Fallout: New Vegas game guide blog #4

Didn't one of the other bits of information that has been released say that San Fran (and by extension the Shi) were now part of the NCR?

    Fallout: New Vegas G4TV specials

Still far to soon to be considered a classic.

    Fallout: New Vegas miscellaneous round-up

In order for a gaming publication/website to survive they need to be able to do interviews with developers, be invited to demos at E3, etc. If they break the review embargo, or if the publisher feels they have there is a risk that said publisher will no longer invite the publication/website to...

Behind the Scenes: The Many Voices of New Vegas

Set theory time! Thats precisely what he's reffering to. "DS9 Actors" is the set of actors from Avery Brooks to Rene Auberjonois. "Star Trek actors" is the set of actors who appeared in Star Trek- from William Shatner to Connor Trineer. Hence, "DS9 actors" is a subset of "Star Trek actors", as...

Fallout: New Vegas "Mocking JRPGs" Advertisement

I think LionXavier was reffering to VATS. Mocking VATS was certainly not the point of the ad.

    Fallout: New Vegas preview

As I said- the right level for epics depends on the story and setting. These are simply two examples of the right kind of epic for Fallout. I hate those as well. Even if you accept the basic idea that the Liberty Prime section added something to the game (which I don't), a 30 second cutscene...

    Fallout: New Vegas preview

Every genre has it's own epic- getting the right scale of epic for the genre is the problem. For some genre's the right scale of epic is actually rather small- only fantasy and anime inspired sci fi (sic) can get away with one hero versus a giant monster for instance. That is to say- Fallout...

    New Vegas tidbits

Maybe. It should come off a skill- if you're wandering around in Enclave power armour and you don't seem to know where you are, where anything is, you don't use the same jargon as other Enclave troops etc, rank and file should have alarm bells ringing. Having that skill decide how close you...

    New Vegas tidbits

How would that make sense? Raider bands are sufficiently small so that everyone knows everyone else (especially in Fallout 3), and its not like all the raider gangs across the wasteland are a united faction in any way shape or form (Well, outside the toolset). It'd be bizarre if putting on...

Rene Auberjonois doing voice work on New Vegas

As voice acting casting choices go choosing Rene Auberjonois is an encouraging sign. I could see in a slightly different set of circumstances, Rene Auberjonois being cast for the first two Fallouts. He is ana ctor who is recognised and respected by more geeky types, a bit like Clancy Brown...

Fallout: New Vegas Gamestar DE preview

He also wanted to split speech into diplomacy and decieve- but I doubt we'll see that in New Vegas. Sawyers skill changes seemed to be based on downplaying combat as a mechanic in favour of more interesting solutions (so having laser rifles and miniguns come off the same skill, where lying and...

Fallout: New Vegas Gamestar DE preview

The Gatling Laser is an energy weapon in the Fallout games. As an energy weapons enthusiast I'm still bitter about that change in Fallout 3. Consolidating skills further simply isn't a good idea. Doctor and First Aid I could vaugely live with. Making Traps and Throwing into explosives (and...
