What would make Fallout 4 a really good game??

What? The Fallout setting is just getting started. It's amazing what Obsidian managed to do with the NCR and Ceasor's legion. Presumably there are other groups out there with power. The story will now be about rebuilding the old society. NCR will expand further east, encounter more villains...

Fallout 3 - Realism, the world, and trees

Bethesda has said the third DLC will cause the Wasteland to change according to decisions you made in the main game (ie oasis).

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #5

The FPS and VATS combo is a heck of a lot more realistic than isometric turn-based combat. 3D realism enhances "atmosphere" and "world design". It is absolutely insane to claim that 2D can be more immersive than detailed, high-res 3D. sure it can be just as addictive and enjoyable, but...

Because no doubt isometric perspective = quality, while first person 3D = fail. What an unbiased, open mind you have. Good to see you've skipped the N64/PSX, GC/PS2/XBOX, and PS3/X360/Wii generations of video games altogether.

    Fallout 3 is actually decent

FO3 has 2 different types of quests. Fetch quests and real quests. it's a big game. Try playing a little more before judging.

So, how many of you hate Fallout 3 without playing it?

Seems fine to me. Graphics look great. Physics suck, and it's not as high-res as Crysis obviously, but they're great in the way Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy are great. I love the little details and the art design. Just reeks of attention. RPG elements are great. A real sense...

    Fallout 3 is actually decent

You're right, it doesn't feel like Fallout 1 and 2. It feels like...ohmigosh...Fallout THREE! There's a reason Zelda, Mario, Metroid, GTA, and other famous IPs made the move to 3D. If done right, it can retain the feel of the original games while adding tons of new experiences.

    Bethesda clarifies Fallout 4 speculation

Funny how you all decided it's bad without even playing the game. You miss out on a lot of things the world has to offer with a narrow mind. Anyways you should hope that Fallout has a lot of spinoffs. Maybe they'll release a Van Buren type isometric game for a handheld, like the PSP. Since...

    Fallout 3 Launch a success

Sweetness. That sounds awesome man. Did you get to chat with them? Maybe ask them a few questions that gaming journalists never seem to ask?

Oh man, you have *got* to play Deus Ex. One of the all-time classics. For the love of all that is good, play it (even if you have to download it...). Your criticisms of Mass Effect are a little subjective. What I mean is that those parameters could easily be adjusted. The undeveloped...

Because even if it switches, the point is that you want the isometric perspective. So either you get that isometric turn-based combat, or its thumbs down for you. Sorry I missed the pun. You can't use VATS all the time. You still need to take cover, dodge the enemy, and all that FPS...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #5

As soon as you suggested the isometric perspective, you made it an either/or situation. Either you have the original combat system, or it sucks. What I was trying to say is that FO3 was committed towards having a first-person combat system. VATS was a way of incorporating some semblance...

By limits of time and tech, he's referring to the insanely difficult job of finding every bug in the code for such a massive and open world. You have no idea how difficult it is to account for *every single action* a human might take to break a quest or the map boundaries just for the heck of...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #4

The absence of aiming implies it's not real-time. Since it also doesn't imply it's turn-based, you come up with something inbetween.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #2

Fallout employs a form of ragdoll physics. That is vastly superior to anything used in 3D games a decade ago. Not saying it compares well to *today's* games. Just that your example is questionable in its legitimacy.

I'm sorry about the double post. I couldn't figure out how to quote within a post that I had already made. Didn't mean to clutter up the thread or anything. I was poking fun at him for sounding like he was depressed *because it got high scores*. The reviewers were heaping praise on the...

So he's not really criticizing the combat system of Fallout 3. He's criticizing the first person perspective. But since Fallout 3 is a first-person perspective game, and not an isometric 3D game, we have to consider what works best in that situation and what would allow for Fallout's...

You have to select the enemy first before you can click in that general direction. They're moving and attack you in real-time. Clicking on them requires some twitch skills. See Starcraft for another example of this. Selecting a target in VATS is *not* aiming in 3D. I am an avid online...
