A little Christmas cheer for cold weather

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Living in Calgary, I've come to expect screwy weather. Every winter, it's always warm for week-long periods, only to get cold and snow again, and then melt again. It was always snowy on Christmas eve, however. No matter what the weather was like in the weeks leading up to Christmas eve, it would always be cold and slowly on that day and the day following.

But not this year. For those of you in different parts of North America and Europe who are suffering through cold weather right now but are still thankful that you don’t live in Canada, where it must surely be worse, I'm here to put your mind at ease.

These pictures were taken 15 minutes ago with my camera. Enjoy.

Today in Calgary it's a mild +10 degrees Celsius. Most of the snow has melted from last week, and it's sunny outside. It's more than warm enough to play a game of football outdoors.

Here's my front lawn viewed from inside my living room. My grass is usually that dead because the 4 30-foot evergreen trees on my front lawn always block out light.

This is the field between my house and a main roadway. There are a LOT of green spaces in Calgary. The snow on the road is almost all melted now.

Here is a view of my house from the street. Notice the lack of snow everywhere but where it has been compacted to ice on the road.

Anyway, if you are suffering through cold weather but still thankful you don't live in Canada, I hope this brought you some comfort. I know it brought me some.

Merry Christmas.

It was five days ago here in Finland like in those pictures. But now: snow everywhere and -13 and -20 degrees Celsius.Wish I could live there.

Amazing...

Just last week my area on the East Coast had a high of 55 degrees fahrenheit...amazing considering the average is 35. Its like Fall or Spring currently...and considering the last winter was the coldest in decades and the one before was the snowiest in decades I couldnt be happier!

Thunderstorms came with it...and with that heavy rain that caused flooding...in December!

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

What's a farenheit?
Could you possibly measure the temperature in some sort of modern measurement? (ie. Celcius or Kelvin).

Satellites have crashed because the USA refuses to use metric, the non-insane system, and fucked up a couple of conversions. It stayed nice throughout the night too and it's STILL +10 degrees Celsius outside at 12:35 AM.

Well, here we've got either rain, wind or just cold. No snow, tho. Long live England.

There's been a fair bit of snow across the country.
Well, enough that the bookies have had to pay out for a White Christmas in several cities.

I had a dusting of it when I got up, but it was gone (except on house roofs) by 11 O'Clock.

calculon00, seems you got what we've had for the last few years. I'm in London Ontario and I honestly don't remember the last time we had proper snow for Christmas. Seems it was always snowing in January than gone by the end of February. This year, well we got that big old storm that hit Ontario and Quebec. Great for hiking and outdoor beer drinking but baaad for driving... or even getting your car out of the driveway.

Here the weather is unusually warm, but humid and with a lot of rain. We haven't had a single snow flake the whole year. This is pretty unusual, especially since this year has actually been colder than average. Climate is really fucked up.
