Which game do you think had the best, most memorable music so far? Here are my choices (in no particular order):

Full Throttle
Fallout Series
Star Wars: KotOR
Mafia
Tropico
Blade Runner
Diablo series

Right now I'm in love with Planescape: Torment music. But that's okay, I'm presently in love with everything Torment-related. :D

Torment rules.

That said: Tony Hawk series. Nothing beats the Tony Hawk Series, with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 being at the top.

Didn't we already have a thread like this somewhere.

Oh well,

-Total war games (especially Medieval)
-Fallout series as well
-Baldur's gate 1 and 2 (the music was great IMO, especially in the second game)
-Civilization 3 (not the prehistoric age though)
-Rune
-Chrono cross
-Chrono trigger
-FF VII (think it was VII)
-Deus ex
-Shenmue 2
-Arcanum (good, but sparse and too background-ish)

And that's all I can think of right now. Torment music was okay, but a little rare. Oh, and don't you think the menu music in the Far cry demo is EXACTLY like the music in Torment?

Deus Ex!!! How could I forget Deus Ex!!!

I still hum some of the tunes from that game, and it's been years since I last played it. Few games manage to match music with the visual aspect so well.

Which reminds me of how much I hate Eidos.

Icewind Dale wasn't a great game but I've always liked the music from it, the opening theme especially.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Fallouts
R-type
BGs
Dune (that special CD edition, not the new version)
Emperor battle for dune

Panzer Dragoon Saga had pretty good music that added to the cool atmosphere and the song for the credits was pretty catchy even though it was all in Japanese.

Fallout and Planescape had some good stuff too. Basically anything that help you get into the games feel is good, I dont like just good music that doesnt really go with DA FEEL.

Now if I was a Moderator, I would merge this topic with the previous "Best Game Music" thread. Exactly the same, and the previous thread isn't all that old either.

Of course, I can only speak for games I've actually played, but there are some mistakes I can see on the previous lists. Besides, people seem to glaze over and assume all Orchestral music is good, rather than differentiate between competent Orchestral music and not (in games, that is).

Europa 1400
Startopia
Stronghold
The Longest Journey
Tetris

Here are my favorites:

Fallout

Tropico

Xenon 2 ( it has some years but it rocks! Best music I ever heard from my PC Speaker)

Doom

Quake

C&C series

Syndicate Wars

Queen: The Eye

The NeoTokyo mod for UT2k4 comes to mind, spontanously.

Ah well, and also Discworld Noir.

Now I better stop before I start thinking.

Europa Universalis II

And the further you advance in time, the better it gets. Truly beautifull.

My Top Five:

1. One Must Fall 2097
2. Crusader 1 & 2
3. C&C: Tiberium Dawn
4. Fallout 1 & 2
5. Deus Ex

Fallout's soundtrack improved the atmosphere, but C&C 1, Crusader and OMF just thrilled me more with theirs. I still preferred the ambient music of Fallout to the beats of Deus Ex 1 though.

Bloody hell, I miss OMF.
