a pigeon was put to test by carrying a 4GB thumb-drive and simulate the transfer speed of a broadband connection in South Africa.

they spent the budget on buying 3 smaller SDs, so they could resend the data if the connection went dead.


for those not usually into IT stuff, there's actually a pigeon datatransfer protocol, which includes the need to resend the data if proper confirmation has not been returned, etc etc.

yeah, some geeks have too much time on their hands.

Damn the swallow, peregrine falcon. One of the fastest landbirds there is.

I like the irony that something can be sent faster by pigeon than by internet. Could be useful in a nuclear war (assuming the pigeons avoid the fallout!)
