I am having a weird problem that I can not seem to fix. I converted some fallout 2 speech to wav with the acm2wav converter, but it comes ot all "weird" sounding. Kind of like a chimpmunk is sayin it.

I have used two different versions of the program, a windows version and a dos version, I have also attempted to converet the wav file to an mp3 to see if that would solve it, but it does not.

Anways if anyone knows how to solve my problem that would be great.

Thanks for any help!

I don't know which program you're using to convert it, but basically the problem is that the converter ingores the bitrate of the ACM file.

BIS has been using the ACM format right into their latest games (BG et al) but the quality of the sound was raised to 22.05khz. Most converters ingore the new birate and make it 44.1khz.

Anyway I'm quite sure there's one out there that converts it at the proper bitrate...

Would anyone know the specific program that would work fine?

I have used two of them, and both didn't work.

Thanks for any help.

You're like an answring machine... REepeating the same thing over and over again?

Instead you could have said "I don't give a shit about why it's screwed up I just want a converter that works".

The converter I use (which works) is called acm2wav version 1.1 by return 0;

It used to be hosted on www.fallout.ru but I don't know where anymore.

Well you see, I originaly thought that I had used the only programs available to download. So I figured maybe I was doing something wrong, but after your replie you gave me the idea that I was useing a bad converter. So I asked where I might get one that would work properly, as I might have overlooked it.

What I am getting at is when you said

"You're like an answring machine... REepeating the same thing over and over again?
Instead you could have said "I don't give a shit about why it's screwed up I just want a converter that works"."

I did care why it screwed up but, as your answer was I was useing a bad converter, all I wanted to know was where to get a better one to fix my problem.

But anyways thanks for your help. : )

Haven't I got the latest version on NMA ?
Try downloading from [link:www.teamx.ru/files/utils.html|here] then...

Im sorry, but you said "you need to specify -m option in the command line." But Im not sure what that means? I know what the command line is, just not the -m option!?
