Correction: A Weird Idea for a Combat System

MethidParadox

Still Mildly Glowing
Edit: Be Pre-Informed that I am not suggesting this as an implementation for fallout 3, just a neat idea

Well, one thing for the realtime is i want you to be able to aim at any part of an enemy, just like you would in counterstrike, but your shot is calculated as if it was a turn-based roll

So if you hit your crosshair in their waste, your using a pistol, but your character sucks with pistols, so it rolls for the likelyhood that you would hit that character based on their distance, weapon quality, and your skill with that weapon

The aim even has an extended range selection, so all you have to do is aim near an enemy to fire at them, so if theres just 1 enemy its really easy to hit, and if theres multiple enemies the primary selection overtakes the secondary selection if an enemy is right behind another.

so even if you aim for a headshot, if you suck with pistols you will miss, but just as well, if you aim for a leg shot, and hit the secondary range which isnt even on the enemy model, yet your really good with the pistol, you can make a critical hit to the eyes, thats if your really good with the pistol

Also

You will also have an aim option, were you can click, a target selection comes up and you can choose which area you want to shoot for, just like in Fallout, like the head, eyes, groin, right leg, left hand, etc.... With this you can have quick commands, so you can click to fire, and press control pad 8 for a headshot, and if you have all your quick keys set you can choose to disable the aiming popup and just have it wait for a quick key selection

you can even do the same thing with melee weapons

This plays a good role in stragety as well, becuase if you have 120% skill with the m4 you can shoot the right and and make the enemy drop his weapon, or if your using an iron bar, you can aim for a knee-cap and make your enemy fall, and have a roll against their luck to decide if they drop their weapon or not

I think that would make play pretty intense, what do you guys think?

This is by far the most idiotic piece of shit I have ever seen you post, and that includes most of the moronic Fallout Online crap. Nowhere in this little insane spiel did you even come anywhere close to TB mechanics, instead you seem to have confused "skill checks" with sequential movement bases, then trying to use a hotkeying system to try and kludge in targeted shots. Again, nothing in this garbage has anything to do with TB mechanics, or for that matter, the more insane attempt at combining RT and TB mechanics.

I would carve apart MethodParidox's post piece by piece... but i'm afraid i'll have an aneurism. So instead i will critique Rosh's post.

The overall form is good.
Sentence structure is great.
Clearly expresses the point as well as calls into question Method's mental capacity..

Could have been a little clearer in a few spots.. (remember Rosh, method might not understand the word kludge, even in perfect context)

Also could have been slightly more abrasive/abusive.. To reinforce the point.

Overall I give it an 8/10.

Superb work.

Thats awesome, Rosh actually remembers me and i'm not banned

Very sweet deal indeed

Anyhow, thanks for the tip rosh, idea sucks, so, back to concept board I go...

Somehow, i dont really know how much my ideas suck untill someone else says "Wow, that sucks"

Edit: Now, after re-reading all this i've come to the conclusion that Rosh isnt bashing the entire idea as much as he's bashing the name of the idea in comparison to what it actually is.

So, With that in mind i'm still considering this to be a somewhat good idea, perhaps its not anywhere near TurnBased+Realtime, but I do think that with proper implementation of such a system that it would be a rather interesting combat experience.

Ya, it's not really a good idea to justify anything that Rosh says to you. Just accept it and move on...
