Have you seen crysis screenshots though? That game is fucking insane, even the nextgen console can't run it.

And it looks so photo realistic!

Has anyone seen these screenshots he talks about? Does anyone have a link for them?

Far Cry was already damn good looking, a pity the game comes to a point where we have to play without weapons against those "one-slash-you're-dead" beasts, and there's no run away: fight (impossible without weapons) or die. :?

Should be the end after exploding the bomb.

Edit: Ok, I've made it through the water to the chopper, crossed that crazy warzone where EVERYONE except me has rocket launchers and managed to get into the last facility. Game over for me, it's fucking impossible to beat those 20+ guys in a corridor, they're suicidal maniacs! They use rocket lanchers on themselves just to kill me, and that's when the guys using Shields+Shotguns don't do it's by themselves! Shouldn't shotguns be 2 handed weapons, denying the use of shields? Just... lol...

Um, sounds a little bit made up...
I'm not buying the whole "not even next gen consoles can run it"
and people have been calling every graphical breakthrough "photorealistic" every since graphics when 3D.

Of course next gen consoles can run it, and I'm kind of disappointed it's not coming out for the 360.

Screenshots? You are funny, dude. I´ve seen videos.
just check out youtube, btw. google is always helpful.

Crysis is the perfect game to sell hardware, i can imagine that the big companys like Nvidia, ATI and so on are financing the whole thing. Just to get the money of our poor little gamer pockets. :(

grab the AR on the ground (but don't simply waste the few bullets), run over the edge and land in the water. only use your AR on mutants that drop their gun. follow the water, run to the chopper, use the minigun...

and Far Cry really wasn't all that nice. just another FPS.

Makes me wonder how will they ever gonna sell the game if the nextgen console won't be able to run it...

And it looks so photo realistic!

Well the latest "OMFG ROXXORZ" photo realistic graphics were those from the tech demo of Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain... But don't you hate Uncanny Valley...

Nope, they can't, at least not without some serious cutback on the effects.

My guess is that the main problem lies with old Shader Model 3.0 cards, which simply don't provide enough instruction slots or registers for all those fancy shaders, though raw processing power may be an obstacle too. Crysis is a DirectX 10 game and needs a DX10 card to run "as intended", and not even PlayStation 3 can provide that much power. There was even a rumor floating about that Crysis wouldn't run on DX9c *at all*, though that has been dispelled since. I shudder to think what the game will look like on a DX9 card, though.

a dx10 game cannot run on standard dx9c. that has been said over & over again by microsoft.

however, mickeysoft is going to release a special dx9 version that is compatible with dx10 commands & executions trimming them down to dx9c commands, but will obviously cuts down hard on the eyecandy.

I heard something about that. They call it DX9L, I believe, and its main purpose is to make DirectX 10 games playable on WinXP. Shrewd.

From what I heard, though, it should be possible to run Crysis on DX9c, though obviously without any of the Shader Model 4.0 eye candy.

Will Age of Decadende use DX10?
And BioShock or Fallout 3?.

I think that I'm not interested in DX10. It seems that Crysys only offers Eye Candy Graphics. But, What about gameplay, inmersion, innovation...?

Let's hope than Open GL be used by more game developers

Wtf, that first one is freaking me out a bit...What's wth the mouth?

well maybe they´ve used her mouth for some other animations. :wiggle:

Wow it´d be funny, if the sentence "Prepare for the Future" meant, that you need DirectX 10 to play F3.

What difference would that make, pray tell? OpenGL supports all capabilities of latest graphics hardware through extensions, so all eye candy of "DX10 cards" will be available through OpenGL as well. In other words, choice of API is irrelevant.

OpenGL does not require Windblowz Vista, Ratty. dx10 does. which is his point, i believe.

Exactly.

Open GL is multisystem.

Err... In the event that was a question...

Age of Decadence is built on a DirectX 7 engine.

BioShock is DirectX 9.0c.

The engine that Beth is using (as of right now) for Fallout 3 is a subset of the Gamebryo engine used for Oblivion. It uses DirectX 9.0c.

However, that's not to say Beth won't change their minds later in development. I sincerely doubt that they will, though. It would cost too much money and time to move up to the DirectX 10-based Gamebryo when it's released.

They'd also have to forfeit almost all of the graphical (among other things) features of DX10 in Fallout 3's XBox 360 version. That might be bad for business, making the 360 kiddies feel like they're second-class citizens. Truth stingsss.

Oh, and Beth would probably take some pretty heavy flak from Fallout fans for concentrating on "immershun" like that. Though that doesn't really mean much.

Worst of all, Beth'd have to be developing the game concurrently on two engines that are radically different under the hood. That's a money pit, right there.

They could probably fake more advanced effects on the PS3 (and PC, but that's beside the point), but still use Oblivion's engine. In fact that's likely what they'll do, if and when it happens. That way they can get away with claiming it's a graphically updated version of F3, just like they're doing with Oblivion on the PS3.

i've just finnished the demo
the graphics are very very fine (nothing mindblowing i think but still WOW)
the most fun you can have is either play it on Hard or Delta(Very Hard) if it wasnt for the not entirely realistic damage it would be even better ...

love sneaking up on enemies
might buy this after the full game comes out
but i'll wait on a word regarding the rest of the game
