Defying Gravity

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Has anyone seen / heard of this Canadian sci-fi drama staring Ron Livingston (Office Space) and that cute blond from a Stargate Atlantis episode (Game) Laura Harris?

I happened to see the Stargate episode on that piece of **** network "SyFy" and thought to myself, I wonder who that lovely lady is? In her IMDB was this "Defying Gravity" TV show that I had not heard of.

The plot
In the near future, eight astronauts from five countries (four women and four men) undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission covering thirteen billion kilometres. With the eyes of the world upon them - everything they do is monitored, and every emotion they feel, scrutinized - they soon discover that their real assignment is not at all what they thought.

The best part is, you can watch this on-line! Well, at least I can coming from an US IP, not sure if out of country IP's are restricted.

They have been playing it here on one of the networks, either ABC or CBS. In fact, it starts in about ten minutes. I have watched a couple of episodes. It's very soap-operaesque, but still beats anything currently in production on the 'SyFy' channel.

I'll have to give that a peek at some point, however in all honesty when I see Ron Livingston all I can think is 'Office Space'.

The ratio of people to cake is too big.

I thought this thread would be about The Lifter Project (YouTube it).

Guess it isn't. :(

I really like Ron's mannerisms, they come out on film as very real and charismatic. I especially enjoy his narration of his characters thoughts on life. They are actually inspiring.

I don't mind the overall format and soap elements either. In fact, I don't really notice them and when I do, it plays of as bad humor.

Works only in USA, then fuck it.

Au contrare, it is played in Canada 1st, USA 2nd. Note credits are all Canadian, cast and crew are all Canadian... Actually come to think of it, its probably the first blatantly non US TV program that plays in the US on a major US network. Generally us Yanks have to re-invent the wheel and generally fail at it (The Office, Coupling).

:P
