F1 Strange display problem

Im running Windows XP SP2
Intel E6300
GF 7800GS 1280x1024

Installed: Patch 1.1
Patch 1.3b
Ammo patch for AP bullets

I installed the humongous installation and after that applied the patches. The game starts and runs fine, no black-outs or anything. The problem is either my monitor or with the game. A big slice from the left side of the screen is cut off, so i cant see the whole "view." And also the part that doesnt show on the left, the same amount is black on the right. Its like the screen has moved 5cm to the left.

Don't laugh at my beautiful screenshot and drawings :)

Also applied compatibility mode for Win95 and tried all resolution from 640x480 to 1280x1024.

Funny thing though, the screenshot showed the whole "view" and the slice that was cut off. Does that give some hint to what is the problem??
 
Yes, just tried. If I adjust the monitor settings to move the screen all the way to the right, it still loses a couple of centimeters of the picture. I`ll have to try and run it in a window of something. Any advices on that??
 
Do you have an older monitor? This simply sounds like a refresh issue. Sometimes it happens when the resolution changes (as it does when playing Fallout) the refresh rate changes also and that causes the picture to move. Try changing the desktop resolution to 640x480 and try different refresh rates. If your desktop moves under those conditions too, than it means it can't really be helped.
 
I have a new monitor, Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo View T-17" and this problem only exists with Fallout1. I tried different resolutions, I`ll have to try different refresh rates, doubt it`ll help though...

Well wohoo! Changing the refresh rate from 75Hz to 60Hz solved the problem. Thank you so much. When trying to install Fallout 2 the same problem appeared in the installer, so I figured it had to be the monitor. Thanks again, cant wait to get bashing mutants and ghouls :D
