Fallout 1 character editor having problems finding save.dat

I put the editor in the game's main directory with the falloutw.exe file and started it up. The list section where the savegames should show up remains blank. I tried routing out the path to the savegames and the particular savegame I wanted to screw around with, but the "open" button doesn't acknowledge that I've complete the path to the save.dat file.

I'm using Windows 2000 Pro if that's significant.

I had just noticed that as well. Though, I am using Fallout 1.2 with Windows XP. I wonder if the editor is just too old and a newer one should be searched for? Oh well, I don't even need it currently, but I might later in the game, so...
