Fallout Realtime GIF scenes *Updated*

Hotel California

Mildly Dipped
Something i've always wanted to do was watch the equivalent to FO combat in real time. I'm not advocating it at all for FO3 (that'd suck) and love turnbased but there is something so fluid about it, don't you think. With this in mind I've been playing around with Image Ready and the FRMs for the last week and heres what i came up with.

The worst part was trying to extract the damn FRMs to GIF but i finally managed it after about a week of frustration with the help of Lisac2k (thanks!)

Oh man!

Just the fact you were able to extract and work with the graphics is impressive, but your use of them is awesome! I love the scene. Your right as well...the fluidity of real time sure is entertaining even if I wouldnt want it in F3.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

It's funny, really. How about a transparent background? No, wait. Please use the dessert texture as background. Would make it awesome.

would be even awesomer if the deathclaw tore that guy in leather jacket in half too, using the laser rifle death animation.. :P

Here's one in the caves.

I'm currently working on a much bigger one in a bar (pics soon) which has 8 characters and nearly 30 different animations - i'll be working on it for the next week or two.

What program/font would you suggest to get the float messages (like in per's comic)?

The standard Fallout font?

Anyhoo, just a suggestion, but wouldn't it also be cool to make a small animation like in the War flash movie... you know like, some guys are shooting, and someone runs up to them with a minigun and kills them all, and then someone else does the same to him, blahdiblah...

But anyhoo, that's really effin awesome! Good work... teach me! :P

Thats nice, very nice, I love that cave background. Like Morpoggel said, try the standard fallout font.

I have to try this. I hope I can do it just as good as this one.

Great idea and nice work! I know a good way to make dialogue font to appear as though its from ingame with adobe photoshop.

First grab this font package - http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=16

Install the font and open up your animated gifs with adobe imageready. When you put the text in the frames, just make sure you are using JH_Fallout font, left align (center align makes font apear fuzzy), font size 8, and put a black outside stoke 1 pixel wide on your text (found in layer options) on every frame.

Heres a sample of what it looks like (used your gif)

Wow - your little fo-movie is amazing. Im really looking forward to see your next productions. :D

If you need them, I can send you screenshots in higher resolutions by using FIFE - for bigger sceneries ^^.

What do you think should happen here?

Hmm.. maybe something similar to the "PIT" in Junktown?

now i figured this out.. you are doing a great animated cartoon? From Fallout scenes and sort of dust?

I think a good event for that scene would be a armed robbery. Maybe the bystanders run away or help the store owner defend himself for some caps.

You could even have a bystander (the one on the left with the dog) seem to run away then stand right outside the door just beyond the frame to the side. As the robber runs off in a hurry the man near the door trips him and kills him before he can right himself. Then the bystander takes the money off the dead robber and simply walks away...

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Finally got this approved and uploaded! oddly enough i had it finished last night! It only took 6/7 hours to do once i'd gotten the frms unpacked. Over 135 frames of fighy goodness.

The speed was the one thing that i found difficult to do (still not sure if its right). i found that at a high frame rate, whilst the movements were smoother everying just went too fast so i've comprimised. Make sure you watch it a few times to get all the little details.

The timing of your animation is superb! Everything happens as it should with no gaps between when someone shoots and someone gets hit!

Amazing! Funny thing you post 2 minutes after my suggestion.

I dunno... it's kindy jerky...

Yeah i know, but seeing as we're all used to turn based everything happened FAR too fast. Literally it was bar man kills ghoul - bang, two other guys dead. Around 130 frames, at 25ps would make it about 5 seconds long, and considering that the first 60-70 have the ghoul walking would make the last bit of action take place in about a second which was far too fast!

Still, i'm happy with the result. Next please :P (I might try a scene like the intro of worms 2)
