The exciting post apocalyptic wasteland of Fallout 1 thrilled me, and chilled me with emotions no man dare feel before!

Fallout 2 almost successfully repeated it, but lacked certain elements, but the gameplay improvements were vast, but so were the bugs...

Now Fallout tactics: Is this the real time, multiplayer compatible version of fallout many die hard(yet die easy) fans of fallout whined for constantly!?

No.

The game takes you back between the Era for Fallout 1 and Fallout 2...

Should this better the storyline?

NO.

Infact if you take into mind Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 the plot is completely rediculous...

Not only did the Brotherhood of Steel originally pop up in Northern California(MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY SUNS AND MOONS FROM CHICAGO!). But their philosophy seems to be doing the whole wavey thing..

In Fallout Tactics the brotherhood of steels goal is to recruit...

In Fallout 1, when you try to offer your service to them, they send you off into the wasteland to die on a quest that no man could dream of doing... Obviously THEY DO NOT WANT TO RECRUIT...

In Fallout 2, they share with you their technology only in exchange for capturing plans for a piece of Enclave technology, even then they still do it with a warry mind, only when they feel your Karma is well above 0. That doesn't sound like they are fond of recruiting then either...

But In Fallout Tactics, it seems that their cause changed completely for a few short years, to recruit and multiply...(MANY MANY MANY MANY MILES from their point of origin).

Fallout tactics offers a multiplayer mode right?

Well not really!

Its one of those, arrange a game with your friends type multiplayer systems, not like Diablo, where you can go find people online, not like many other games... Why would they pull a fast one like this?

I know from Descent: Free Space: The Great War (done by Volition inc. of Interplay) that Interplay is affiliated with parallax online, a free online gaming service, I KNOW that they could have gotten an easy play with people you don't know multiplayer style... BUT I guess not... I guess interplay hopes that people will convince all their friends to buy it too so that they can play multiplayer....HAH!

What about the gameplay modes? Us fans, us loyal place money in greedy ol unethical interplays pockets fans were promised a cooperative gameplay mode for multiplayer......Nope, ofcourse not!

VEHICLES! YES OH YES BABY! FINALLY WE GET TO DRIVE INTO OUR MISSIONS AND KEEP OUR GOODIES IN THE BACK OF THE CAR AND DRIVE AROUND AND RUN OVER PEOPLE AND SHOOT EM UP JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES!!
(atleast in the mission you find the vehicle in)

Becuase they seem to think that its a perfect idea, to make room for a vehicle in just about ALL the missions, yet not let you take vehicles into missions...

Whats up with that!?

I hear many complaints "I wasted money on tank shells"

what about all the bugs?

1.25 sounds like a number they should have gotten it right for....
NOPE
half the perks don't do anything..

Theres that "Way of the Fruit" perk, and about 10-20 pieces of fruit tops in the game..

Now for the real part that counts for most players...

Gameplay...

Gameplay is well improved over fallout, the battle system with the action points, while remaining real time is a nice touch... It makes it feel like a real strategy game, weapons are more powerful, bringing quick death to the enemy, which is what counts in a strategy game, the action, the excitement..

But in some ways this engine is an inconvenience...

I often like to play a game, while talking to a friend on ICQ or msn messenger...

I could just hit alt+tab or alt+esc.... but not on Fallout Tactics...

I have to keep switching graphics modes and hitting alt tab, and then SOMETIMES once in a blue moon, it minimizes...

The whole look around system is bogus.. I liked in fallout and fallout 2 how if you needed to use a skill, you can change it to the arrow cursor, click hold and drag down to the whole skill thing, or the item bag and click the appropriate skill or item...

Also the attempt at humor is sad, I think the writers should be ashamed of themselves....the funniest thing in the entire game is
Meat Pie: Doubtful

So funny I forgot to laugh though, so I guess that doesn't count...

The dialogue system is great... Oops did I say great becuase I meant horrid...

Dialogue options would have been a nice touch, afterall, it would make good use of Charisma and Intelligence...

I think the writers really should wake up, and try a little harder next time around,

Interplay was also unethical to rush 14 degrees east... but their writers aren't as great as from other divisions, like BlackIsle, or whoever made Fallout I...
If it is the same writers may I ask: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?

All gameplay no storyline... greattttttt......

If I need help on the game I can just go to the official webpage right!?

Wrong,
same case with all interplay webpages, rather than satisfy people who already emptied their pockets to interplay, the web pages are devoted to getting more people too... The pages are self promotional, attempting to sell more copies of the game, rather than help the pour souls who already bought it... They offer little or no customer support...

Now for the part you've been waiting for:

Marks:

Gameplay: 90%(A+)
Storyline: 5%(F---)
Humor and Easter Eggs: 5%(F---)
Multiplayer: 1%(F---)
Programming(bugs etc, lower is worse still): 20%(F--)
Customer Support: 0%(F---)
Dyamics: 0%(F---)

Overall, its an addictive game, its like Nesquik Cereal, you couldn't possibly like it, its just addictive...

Not bad. Might want to flesh out here and there, post it to PCGR.com and possibly here to NMA if Miroslav says it's okay, etc. I'd go ahead and add more material myself based on my own critiques, but I'm tired and going to bed. Yeah, .sig has changed a bit too....

RE: Good God, not Roshambo and his reviews! :-) (N/T)

Eight pages? I didn't think there were that many swear words in the English language. :) Just remember, it was never *meant* to be a good game now...

Maybe if actually paid attention to the story you would relize that the BOS in Tactics is a different group. The intro tells how some members wanted to recruit new brothers. Anyways they were snet in airships to investigate the whole mutant scene up north past the mountains. They crashed and ran their BOS their way.

me want bitch about Fallout Tactics

Nothing will dissuade. FOT storyline sux anyways. Me want Fallout 3 instead.

Well. I don't agree...

The story has it's explanations (in the Intro... You forgot to watch it didn't you?)

I like the storyline but that's just me (probably, except if there's an "anime"-ending... I haven't played it through yet, it keeps saying mss32.dll error)

I love the game... I fI only could get the hang of those Editors I'd make my own campaign aswell..

No, most of us were cringing from the shitty choice in music. Nice PSX-wannabe racer crap that was purposely changed from the 50's sci-fi pulp influence just like the rest of the game. Most of the cheesed fans that HAVE watched the intro thought it was the most ludicrous cock-up Ed Wood would be proud of.

Seriously, have you played the first two?

So that explains it.

Now that you put it that way I must... No... I still can't agree, I like the intro... But I can't back up my opinion anymore...

Yes I have... But I am one of those who defends "Star Wars -Episode I" aswell... 8^)

Yes. I guess it does...8^) And the fact that I come from Finland (all the sauna and viina has fried my brain)

It was a pretty good intro, but where it failed is that it just didn't fit into the series. It didn't have the setting of the game, nor the precedents set forth before in being 50's pulp sci-fi retro in feel. Not the end of the world, but even so...really does seem a hell of a lot different from the desolate feel of Fo1's intro.

"Attack of the Clones". Can I get a comment on that? ;P
Methinks Lucas is going senile, or he needs to be bedridden with two collapsed lungs again so he can write a decent damn script and not wallow in Sesame Street stuff.

Let's hope Jar Jar DIES! >;)

Okay, who let the Fin in here? I'll moider the bastard who did....

;P

Just playing around, really. Quite seriously, glad you did enjoy FOT and can play it *somewhat* enjoyably, though it sounds like you're feeling the results of Interplay's SHITTY QA efforts and standards with the bugs. As a prior QA manager and head tester of numerous games through alpha and beta stages, I wouldn't hire the IPLY QA team (as a productive entirety) even on donuts. Their recent work and standards have been piss-poor, and bowing to scheduals at the sacrifice of program integrity is, in turn, a show of lacking integrity to those testers and QA personnel.

Let's not forget the fact that all the Fallout intro movies, except FOT, had a good dose of dark humor about them.

Fallout: You had the old TV set playing war reels, followed by two fairly outlandish commercials for pre-Great War technology that was present in the game. Pan backwards, and you notice the TV is in the ruins of an apartment building with a huge, gaping hole, allowing you to see the ruins of a once great city.

Fallout 2: Leaving the Vault. That was a priceless movie based on 1950's educational clips. It also set up the plot of FO2 by revealing what the GECK was, in case you missed it in the Fallout manual. Following the movie, you see a family of Vault 13 dwellers open the vault door, only to get gunned down by Enclave soldiers. Leaving the vault wasn't as simple as the movie made out, was it?

Fallout Tactics: Overly super modern Chicago, fade to it being a worn billboard. Guy gets a map, then overly long hummer racing along a dirt road. Guy throws map out.
