Fan Made Fallout looking for people

The ever ongoing Fallout fan project called Fan Made Fallout have posted a minor update on their web page asking for more people to join their project:
That said, the people who do come back and actually produce completed dialogue are a nice surprise. My point though is, we're looking for members. ACTIVE MEMBERS. People who really want to join, can come in, start posting and come back and visit the forum every day. I usually say once a week is enough but really, if you're not able to post every day or two, I doubt you're going to be that much use to the team (though of course, it does depend on what it is you're working on).

For us though, we've still got complex quests to sort out, NPC details to be finalised and some other brainstorming things like that that need active people talking to each other regualarly. We do have a handful or three of those characters ready and finalised which people could work on but we would like to finish things up. The project is at the stage where the final details are being sorted and we need help.
Drop by their forum to join up.

A bit of elaboration:
We need people with the following skills.

A) Writers

Required are fluent english writing skills and a strong imagination.Writing positions are for either writing actual in game dialogues or for fleashing out quests, writing the background story of npc's or locations etc etc..

B) MAPPERS

Requires knowledge of how the official mapper works and how fallout 1 & 2 maps are structured.Making maps is actually pretty easy,so if anyone of you out there that know how to work the mapper is interested to help please do so even if you only want to make 1-2 maps in your spare time.Every little bit helps this project move forward.

C)Programmers

Correct me on this if i am wrong, but as far as i know, fallout uses a simplified c with pascal elements. So if you are an experienced programmer you will have no problem understanding fallout's scripting language.Scripters will be responsible to take everything (like quests, dialogues, cutsceens etc etc..) we have planned in our forums and actually make them work in game.

D)Artists

Positions:
3d moddelers/animators for cinematics/talking heads
Good Hand drawing skills or photoshop skills for town entrance pictures, end slides pictures, concept arts etc etc..

If you are interested to help, visit our forums. There you will find more info on how to join.

So basically you need a whole team? What has your old team been doing all these years?

Oops, did IanOut die just now as well? It did! Yay for large-scale Fallout modding projects.

Actually IanOut split, the leader continuing the existing project and the rest of the team starting from scratch.

Considering your comments per,we don't need to create a new team,we have a team of 32 members. We just need to fill those gaps left from 8 people leaving the project. In simple words: More active members= jobs gets done faster and FmF will be released earlier.I can't really understand why you 're complaining.

ianout has become F.I.F.E. (Flexible Isometric Fallout-like Engine)

It didn't become FIFE, FIFE is something new according to mvBarracuda. The people working on it have more experience now, but is there any reason to think they will finish it in less time than they spent working on IanOut, or that nothing will happen to cause further slowdowns, false starts or cancellation in that additional timespan?

And yes, IanOut lives, but with one man supposedly working on it. Could it be finished? Who knows?

Oh no, my negative energy isn't going to kill FMF, is it?

As soon as I figure that out, I'll let you know.

In reality though, over the years a lot of team members have joined, done some good work for 6 months and then left. There's always 1 or 2 that stay behind for the long haul but we need to keep cycling in new team members to find those people. There's also a handful that join and then never do anything before getting booted off. So we constantly need new people to come in and replace those (hopefully with ACTIVE people as I said in the news post).

If that gets finished in about two years, we'll likely do an FMF conversion presuming a conversion is really, really easy to do. If it's not, forget about it. At the moment we're sticking to using Fallout 2 because we know it works.

Nice to see the project continue without their Project Leader though.

1. Yes, FIFE is completely written from scratch.

2. Ianout beta 5 is completely written from scratch, too (according to Sztupy)

Reasons why we'll finish it:
1. Sztupy was the only ianout coder

2. We got a professional on the team now which delivered some top notch games and he guides us through the problems and even helps coding.

3. We got now about 10 members and the coders are really hard working and EVERYONE can check the progress by checking the SVN out (which wasn't possible with ianout because Sztupy didn't use CVS/SVN)

4. SztupY is not the FIFE team (thats maybe the main reason that makes me believe that the engine will get "finished")

5. FIFE will never be "finished" because it's open source.

6. I could write a lot of reasons but I know that we missed a lot of release dates with ianout. So we keep it simple and update the page from time to time and post the progress in the forums here.

AFAIK SztupY has already finished beta 5 of the engine but he won't release it before he finishes the campaign that comes bundled with it. Surely I'm quite biased in this case but knowing SztupY since one and a half year, I don't think that ianout beta 5 will ever be released.
