first you have to use a program like winrar to extract the gui info. Now you have all the .zar files of the characters. Then it's just a matter of figuring out wich character you want to redo.
(I tried to use the zar to gif editor by team-x but couldn't get it to work)
anyway,
lets say you wanted to make the cyborg general barnaky one of your main characters to pick from.
1.find the picture for barnaky cyborg {CORE_m26_barnaky}
2.take out all the .zar files of the person you want to change. In this case {CORE_prefab1}, put them somewhere safe, don't delete them. you might want to put them back or use them for something later.
3.Copy {CORE_m26_barnaky} (don't delete him, just copy him)
take the copy to a different folder, or just use your desktop.
paste the file then rename it. {CORE_prefab1} and repaste it back into gui/char folder where it came from
4.For a prefab character your going to have to use this image 3 times and rename it 3 times. There is a folder in the same chacter folder called "BIG" These are the five original pictures of the prefab characters.
Remove prefab1 from the "BIG" file and paste {CORE_prefab1} in there also
5.Now comes the tricky part. (not really) To have a picture of your character on the screen while your playing the game you have to make a new picture. The game only shows pictures of people you can choose from the recrutment pool. So now you have to make cyborg barnaky into a recruit. I simply renamed the file
{CORE_rec_uo 01} uo=unique other. (I think it just needs the picture in the recruitment pool, I don't think naming the file uo was nessacary or not. I just did it and it worked)
So now you have all the pictures in all the places that you need them. If you wanted a different picture for a recruit it would be alot easier, you would just swap files with whatever other recruit you wanted it to look like.
I hope this wasn't confusing. I probably made it seem alot harder than it really is.
