Game Informer: Max Payne 3 in Brazil

Makenshi

Ahoy, ye salty dogs!

The latest issue of Game Informer has some juicy new details on Rockstar’s Max Payne 3. Max is now bald, bearded and addicted to pain killers. Which has an affect on the gameplay. Max has hit rock bottom in every sense of the word and has found himself in São Paulo, Brazil (he could hit the rock bottom in every sense and find himself in Paris, Tokyo or Sidney - his state has nothing to do with him being in Brazil).

Max Payne 3 is looking visually very similar to Uncharted 2 (stunning), with vibrant colors and fully destructible environments - all powered by Rockstar’s RAGE engine and a procedural animation system. Expect tons of battle in urban ghetto Latin American neighborhoods with plenty of new weapons. Bullet Time is back in but will be more visceral and ultra-violent. The now industry standard cover system will also play a part in Max’s new Brazilian adventure, as well as day and night cycles. Even more good news is that Max Payne 3 will indeed feature an online multiplayer mode. Max Payne 3 is slated for a Winter 2009 release on PS3, 360 and PC. To see Max Payne 3 in all it’s colorful glory, pick up the July issue of Game Informer.

The above are NOT scans, it's not even possible to read. But if even far away pics of the mag are forbidden, mods please remove them and, if needed, warn me.

Also, may The Emperor curse any motherf***** that says "jungle". Here are some pics of São Paulo to avoid that kind of discussion:

Somehow, old Max Payne is better than old Snake. It kind of suits the character, as does the pain medication addiction (I mean, how could he not be addicted after the amount he takes in 1 and 2)

But, errrr, Rockstar's Max Payne? I thought he was Remedy's creation?

When i hear the name Max Payne, i unwillingly associate the name with new york city. Kind of hard to imagine him in a colourful setting such as Brazil :seriouslyno:

Is that supposed to be him?? That dude looks like he's straight out of Resident Evil 4 or Condemned series.

Kind of hard to imagine him bald and bearded too.

The new fella looks more like Carl from ATHF than an aged Max Payne.

I can still see them

@AskWazzup: São Paulo is gray and smoky, very creepy at some places - like the "Crack Land". The rest of the country is more likely to fit the colorful vision you imagine.

Rio de Janeiro is deadly colorful

Makenshi stop being butthurt about people making fun on Brazil.

Brazil sucks anyway.

That's why lately developers are using it as sort of a shithole refuge or war zone.

Anyway, if I'm not mistaken there was a picture where Max was sort of a SEXAY guy... bearded, but with with a bit longish hair and troubled look. What happened to that? Was a bit more like the original Max than Hulk Hogan here, although not by much.

And, no raincoat, no Max Payne.

But, errrr, Rockstar's Max Payne? I thought he was Remedy's creation?

STFU, Todd Howard is also the father of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises.

He sure is but I think it's been handed over to Rockstar because Remedy is still working on the Alan Wake game

Can't say I really like the setting...

Noir York City, the snow, and the cool cello music is what made 60% of the awesome atmosphere in the previous games...

I give it a 7/10. The Codex would give you a 5/10, though.

And Brazil has always been a nice refuge. Remember that english dude who robbed some train along some dudes, then fled to Brazil? His son is even famous here. I think no one goes to Brazil for refuge, though. Too obvious.

Its just me or game developers are noticing Brazil as a interesting scenario in their games? Seems FPS developers got tired of making games in UMEC.

NATIONALIST OUTBURST :revolution:
No, i will just show some facts.

There is no jungle in Sao Paulo
S%C3%A3o_Paulo_Landsat_%28fotografia_de_sat%C3%A9lite%29.jpg

It is basically a grey scar on the earth.

Sao Paulo is basically the monetary "Heart" of Brazil, and the paulistas are known for overworking, drinking lots of coffee and eating standing in high tables without chairs to spare time.

It's Crime levels are some of the highest of Brazil, only topped by the northeast , the miserable zone of Brazil.

There is a zone of the city called the crack'o'land where crack runs rampant through the streets and large groups of people are seen sitting int the street to smoke it.

I don't live there , i live close to Argentina and Uruguay where the climate is temperate. We say the paulistas are fags, they say we are fags, it's a fair trade.

But , Rockstar will probably make Max go through a JUNGLE RUMBLE :ugly:

I don't like the Brazil setting. At all. It should've stayed in New York or another US city. I don't trust Rockstar to make this a good Max Payne game. At the same time, I think it's good that Remedy is concentrating on Alan Wake. Looking forward to that game.
