Gauss is too easy to get...

ogreb

First time out of the vault
The Gauss rifle is easily the most powerful weapon in the game...and yet you can get enough for all you and your NPCs easy enough...in SF.

They should make the Gauss a mission ..like getting your first PA( Military base) or even CA( army depot)..
And only then can you get more...........

I know about Navarro....I'm just not ready for advanced PA yet

I almost feel like I'm cheating..

Targeted headshot does 190 damage+...Almost like Whack A Mole..
Still it's cool to watch a mutant explode after only one shot.

Give Cassidy a Gauss and he is a kiling machine..He killed that head mutant dude in the military base with one shot...!!!

Just my two cents..I mean bottle caps..or is it ring pulls?

How come they always choose a sniper rifle over a Gauss? Don't know whats good for themselves...

AND HOW COME COMBAT SHOTGUNS ETC ( except for the PANCOR) SUK!!!????

I've tried them all..including the one they put in Tactics??? ( and it rocked in that game...cut a DC in half with one burst)

Yet they hardly do any damge in this game...?!!

If your using finese perk, then the combat shotgun, and the h&k caws will suck alot. Yah, I feal like cheating when using the gauss weapons too, but the bozar feals way, way more like cheating (my all time high, 3700 damage on a hubologist, heh heh heh). Mostly I feal the modifiers on the gauss amunition are too high. Also Its way easy for me to get, I had like 7000 rounds in my trunk when I deceded to do the enclave. Anyways, small guns gets boring after a while.

That Bozar is fun though....die die !!!

I only had 40 in big guns when I picked it up...but I upped it just so I could use it better...wheee!!

On the other hand, remember Fallout 1? Small Guns characters were screwed, compared to what you could do with a Turbo Plasma Rifle. Now it's not so obvious.

And them Enclave basterds got Gauss' too...

I'm glad I reread this...
After finsihing FO2..I reloaded Fo

I was going to go for small guns...I was a god in FO2..could hit a womprat at a thousand meters...err I mean a mutant..

I'll take small guns..and energy weapons..

There is no Gauss's in FO is there?

No. The best Small Arm is the Sniper Rifle. Or Deckard's gun. Or the Combat Shotgun. There ain't even the CAWS nor the Pancor.

yeah that .223 pistol rules, i prefer it to the sniper rifle for most purposes, unless i have to pick off something at a long distance, then the sniper rifle it is

Thanks....no Gauss...ehhh..
Man I'll miss disemboweling mutants with one shot...but hey there's nothing like turning them into a pile of goo!

Is it like the 223 from FO2?...one of the best handguns in the game..the one you find in V15?

Do not double post, ogreb. The edit button exists for a reason.

And yes, I believe that is the same gun.

I think theres only one in Fo:1, ans you need to be level 10 at least to get it. Its pretty damn good, although, theres no penalties on increasing skills past 100% in Fo:1, so at around lvl 12 with more of your skill points in small guns, you could kill just about anything with any gun (10mm to the eyes works alot better than some think)

I'm not sure that it counts as cheating when you have to fill half of your inventory (by weight) with ammo and ignore the well being of your NPCs.

Personally, I always preferred the eye-shots from a low AP weapon (P90C on single fire or the revolver. Or the Gauss pistol if I was feeling frivolrous).
(Drunken Post - Ignore all contents)

Meh, you dont need to fill half your inventory, just 120 or so pounds of it with .223FMJ for the bozar, which can be a problem if your carry wieghts only 175. Gauss Is quite common, in my current game, I have 7 gauss pistols in my trunk, about 1000 rounds of gauss ammunition each on vic, cassidy, and skynet, and have gauss rifles galore. Kinda makes it all one side/over kill.

You'll say this until you actually arrive at the oil rig, and every other Enclave trooper you meet has a gauss weapon. Personally I think the Gauss weapons are overrated. I say this because by the time you honestly find one, they do just as much damage to the high level enemies as your first 10mm pistol did. Besides that, there is so much damned 2mm EC ammo on the oil rig. I think when I beat the game I had 1200 rounds of the stuff.

Sure, by now we all know that if we went to San Fran, got the quest for Navarro and scored the APA at level 1 the game would be seriously ruined. You get 25,000 XP for finding the base, plus APA. The only remedy this requires is a little bit of self restraint.

Of course, I wouldn't exactly call finding some power armor a 'quest' exactly. I like to think of it as more of a sweet, sweet reward for the truly inquisitive :)

yeah, they sell it almost in packs in SF, in my opinion the gauss rifle should be a one(or maybe two)-of a kind that was/were hard to obtain. Then there could be a couple of gauss pistols lying around that were also not so easy to obtain but once you got them it wouldn't be like "what the hell do I need these for when I can get gauss rifles for my whole party?"
anyway the large (unnecessary) gun additions in Fallout 2 was stupid...

The gun additions werent so bad (it could have been toned down in quantity a bit)... the problem is: AMMO IS EVERYWHERE

(There, Silencer dudemanguy I spellchecked my post  )

Yeah, the ammo was insane, I had more ammo than I could ever carry.
But almost every gun addition in Fo2 was idiotic, or at least out of place. Take the Grease gun, one of the WWII produced-in-a-hurry-in-need-of-a-cheap-relatively-good-gun-weapons, how in the world could SEVERAL(I'm talking tens, probably hundred) of them have survived all that time?
The tommy gun as well, even though it's a far better gun than the grease gun...
As for the P90, Caws, Pancor, G11(that wasn't even cool) and the likes, they were developed after the fifties, so they don't just look out of place, they are out of place.
The P90 and G11 especially is out of place, it's way to modern...I could go for the M60 because it really looked Fallout-ish.
The gauss, vindicator, bozar(although ~way~ overpowered) and pulse rifle were great additions to the weapons list. They were made up, well mostly, and they fit in the setting...

Just because the history arc changed after WWII - doesn't mean certain technologies would have not been made.

The look and feel and style did not change, the world was at conflict, so weapon advancements would have been at the top of the list. So some of the weapon choices do not surprise me. The amounts of them DO, however.

using alot of the weapons in Fo:2 left a bad taste in my mouth, so I just stuck to a few from the original, and a few of the now ones that looked retro futuristic (the Y2 somthing or other pulse pistol looked cute) or just plain too wierd to be fiction "Cough"Bozar"cough"
