Hi....A few questions and musings on FNV.

First time out of the vault
Hi there.

Long time lurker here, first time posting. Hopefully you'll excuse the newbieness and respond, even too questions asked before.

So love New Vegas, a much more complete game than Fallout 3 (come to think of it the thought of FO3 just depresses me now). Reminds me far more of the first two fallouts which I was heavily into.

Anyway, i'm puzzled on a few things (have both console and pc games, but awaiting PC repair before I ditch the xbox version).

1. Does it affect the game in anyway if I kill Caesar? I've cleared out the entire fort, but have yet to kill everyone inside the tent in fear of ruining the game........?

2. Same with Legates camp, I haven't been yet as I don't want to tamper with the storyline by roaming. Is he there?

3. Probably the most simple thing ever, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to use the armor piercing and hollow point ammo, i've ran out of 45-70 gov't despite having hundreds of the ap and hp(remember i'm on console for now in this playthrough so no keyboard hot keys).

4. Also on that note, where to find a regular stockist of the normal 45-70?

5. I've killed lady gibson, but the quest for ed-e states i should go to the scrapyard, yet i run around the area, it never updates the quest, ideas?

Think that's it for now, some of these things have been driving me crazy, i strongly believe in not having the guide until at least my third playthrough, and technically i'm breaking my own rules askign these questions, but it would be much appreciated for some reposnses.

Thanks.

Boyd

1 & 2 - it has effects, but doesn't ruin the game at all (as I did just that in my first playthrough)

3 - Go to the ammo tab in the pip-boy, the non-disabled options are the ammo you can use for your currently equipped weapon. You have to go back here every time you change weapons, IIRC (not sure if there is a hot key for ammo, as I use a console to play).

4 & 5 - Dunno, didn't have any experiences with either of these in my play-through.

1. Alot of poeple will talk about it, but most things are the same, the Legate takes over.

2. You can't possibly go there untill the endgame section, it's impossible.

3. Press up on the D-pad (Xbox 360)

4. Gun Runners/Hoover Dam shop/BoS shop.

5. Not sure, you may have broken the quest.

So that is what the icon on my console "hot keys" is for "up" that I cannot change? Does that cycle through the different ammo you have?

You can't change it, and indeed it does.

Much appreciated for speedy responses, didn't know about the legate camp being unreachable, only seen it through the explorer perk.

Up on the D-Pad, I knew it was that simple, eeek.

Although gun runners never sell standard 45-70 in my game, and i've yet to come to explore hoover dam to know it had a shop. Much appreciated.

Also, one little question, I read somewhere that there are references to the lone wanderer from fo3 in fnv, where? Yet to come across it but seems like it will be quite a cool moment, and if not, i think it would have been brilliant that some people spoke of the legend of washingtons 101 wanderer.

Anyhoo.

Muchas gracias.

I don't think there are any Fallout 3 references, I didn't catch those, but there are plenty of FO 1/2 references.

There is a quartermaster shop under Colnel Moores room (you need to be good with the NCR to have acsess) - Hoover Dam.

There are a few FO3 references - e.g. from ED-E's quest. Veronica also mentions that one Brotherhood chapter even had a civil war over whether to help the locals or not, which is a reference to the Lyons/Outcasts split.

Also if you make it to Jacobs Town you can find Marcus, a Super Mutant, from Fallout 2. I thought that was a really nice touch. I Remember sitting there and when He ran up to me and I saw his name I was like ... no shit? ...

I never got the ED-E quest to work either. I have two times gone through the game, both evil and good. And the first time I visited the old lady with ED-E, and nothing happened. The next playthrough I remembered this and shot her in the face instead of bringing the eyebot around - but the quest didn't fail, just stuck in my pip-boy. Several quest are like this, like the one with the raped NCR-girl who won't let me talk to her.
