An interesting fact for the day:

China's military (not availability, but what is fit for service) has manpower (about 200 million men strong) is almost equivilent to the total population of the United States (275 million).

However China's military manpower *availability* is more than the United State's total population at 363 million, almost three times the size of the total population of Russia (146 million).

Whew.. that's quite a lot of men..

Well nowadays troops are really only for keeping the citizens in check. We use long-range weaponry to take out everything else. Not a single American life was lost in the skirmish in Kosovo.

Probably. They are large enough to develope it. They also have MIRV nuclear missile technology they stole from us. I figure however that there never will be a nuclear war.

Well they did send a few helicopters.. but no, no troop fighting. That's also the point, troops are used to secure the area after the enemy has been wiped out or disabled.

I'm sure some other lives were lost though.

Americans always seem happy to fight wars outside their own country. For example Vietnam, Korea, Kosovo, etc....

Well that's because nobody dares to attack us. Though I think the USA only fights wars if it is in our national interest (aka someone getting too powerful). Case in point, the Gulf War:

Iraq had complained for YEARS to the United Nations about Kuwait's diagonal oil wells which were tapping reserves in Iraq. The UN simply ignored Iraq's pleas for reprimanding Kuwait. So Iraq took things into their own hands and invaded Kuwait, which by-the-way is just a country full of lazy rich oil dealers. However since the idea that a nation could invade another nation that was a "friend" of the USA is abomidible to the USA, the USA intervened. Thus the Gulf War.

Iraq was fully in the RIGHT about the whole thing. Those little bastards in Kuwait...

RE: just pretend

If you don't remember, one apache felt down in Albania when they departed from the airport, so they canceled of the operation... few choppers were sent in the area to collect downed pilots, one was "taken" down... ie. don't tell no one got killed.

While one Apache was taken down, nobody died from it. They were rescued and taken back to camp. Thus no Americans died during the raids.

"National interest, aka someone getting too powerful"?

"The Iraqi were in their full right! Those fat, lazy bastards whom Kuwait consists solely of, they're so god damn EVIL it's only good for them to get massacred by the Iraqi!"?

Wow, you really do get it in with the mother's milk.

*does a :-) to all non-Americans*

RE: just pretend

There is a difference between justifying war crimes and recognising Iraq's desperate situation.

The United States should have realized that Vietnam was not a worthwhile fight to take up. Really, what kind of *threat* could Vietnam, of all places, provide to democracy/western ethic? Communistic countries were *never* a power when compared to US/western technology and military might. The only real thing the USSR had going for them were their nukes, and most of them consisted of bombs.

Then came McCarthyism, sheesh people were stupid back then, or just scared. Didn't the realize that his reign of calling people Communists was a form of FASCISM? He wasn't interested in downing communists, he was interested in downing political opponents so he could remain in power.

Man I'm glad I live nowadays.
