Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
apparently, JA3 is coming out finally. and it's a new game, not the previously announced JA3. might be interesting for us tactical turn-based combat fans. read more here.

And from a german publisher. So the chance is high that it really will be released.

Also the chance is high that it may suck.

Make the resolution better, make a new story with the same characters and I buy the game. 8-)

chances are great it'll turn into a FPshooter, you know? or how do they call it nowadays? an first person action rpg.

yeah.

I hope not. I played trough the Jagged Edge E5, it was ok, but filled with bugs. Women cannot wear helmets, the game freezed a lot, and there were missions with bugs. I wanted to try the Jagged Edge 2, but it was only with Russian language.

There was another Jagged-like game, the Jagged: Hired Guns. It's an ok game, but it's not that good. :(

Well it sank faster than a very heavy thing into the sea.

PRESS RELEASE posted on 9 MAR 2010 by Jim Zabek

German publisher bitComposer has acquired the rights to Jagged Alliance and is now working on Jagged Alliance 3.

Eschborn/Frankfurt, March 09, 2010: Preliminary development work has started on Jagged Alliance 3, the new episode in the internationally successful Jagged Alliance series. The German publisher bitComposer Games has secured the full rights to the license from Strategy First, and will publish this famous strategy brand with roleplay elements worldwide. The aim is to preserve the popular basic concept of the previous versions and place it in a contemporary setting. A specific release date for Jagged Alliance 3 has not yet been confirmed, but a 2011 release is anticipated.

“Although Jagged Alliance 2 was published over ten years ago now, the game still represents a milestone in the genre and boasts a huge following of loyal fans,” says Wolfgang Duhr, Managing Director of bitComposer Games. “We are delighted to acquire this classic game for bitComposer, and want to continue the success of the previous titles in the series, while giving the new version a contemporary look, bearing in mind the strong features of its predecessors”.
The Jagged Alliance series has received numerous national and international awards since its first appearance in 1994. The second part in particular, Jagged Alliance 2, released in 1999, won a host of accolades and gained the highest plaudits from the global games media. Jagged Alliance 3 will build on the strengths of its famous predecessors and, set against the backdrop of a gripping story, will again deliver the much-loved combo of turn-based strategy gameplay with roleplay elements.

Recently there has been conflicting information about further planned releases in the Jagged Alliance series. Apart from a Social Network based game under development by Strategy First, the acquisition of the full IP rights by bitComposer Games will now serve to clarify the situation and will lay the foundations for future development work under the license.

Apparently, bitComposer was behind STALKER CoP, which was mostly bug-free and an all-around better release than its previous iterations. This could be a good thing.

It would be an interesting turn of events if the makers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (GSC Game World) turn out to be the dev team.

well, I'm officially psyched. this type of game is so rare these days and I can't help get excited about the thought of a new one. I really loved the Silent Storm games, even though they could be somewhat of a mess at times. if this comes anywhere near those games in terms of quality (which shouldn't be that hard to achieve) I'm probably gonna play the hell out of it.

Anybody tried/played/heard of 7.62 High Caliber ? I thought it was the spiritual JA3, I really want to try it, even if its not turn based, but rts with pause, like Shadow Company was. Have a look :

that game looks pretty rad. never heard of it before. I like how it looks like you can kinda "paint" where you want to spray bullets. and I really don't mind RTwP. not as good as TB, but almost.

5.56 and 7.62 have good gameplay concepts and have adequate graphics & stories but the gameplay is really terrible.

Not sure about the original Russian releases but the English releases of both games were horrible.

I prefer Ufo:Afterlight to them any time of the day. (And overall Ufo:AL is just a hair under good 6.9 so to speak)

For serious squad based gaming, there is still no alternative to JA2 (1.13)

I've played Brigade E5 and 7.62 High Calibre. Brigade E5 was uber shitty, 7.62 was way way better. Actually I enjoyed playing it. You can't really compare it to Jagged Alliance, because of many aspects, also 7.62 got many points that weren't very good. Well, if you try to compare the games to Jagged Alliance (2), JA is better in every aspect...

But still, I liked 7.62.

No, because when I looked, it was only Russian. But the Jagged E5 is the same as the 7.62. I mean the 7.62 is like E5 part 2. :)
