First time out of the vault
well fortunately enough i have some spare time on my hands. so i decided to give it a go at bit of modding of f2.
I did do some mods for unreal tournament back in the days. and also a few freelancing jobs for a few game companies.
I did took a look at the way the game was made... and well it was not made to make it easy to mod yet it is not over the top complicated.

Anyway i will try to go for a small map location with 3-4 talkable npc few trash npcs add 1-2 quests maybe experiment with custom static frms and a few items and maybe connect the quest to some npc that is somewhere else just to see how it all works (more or less).
I have outlined my idea. Made all the necessary dialogues in txt (obviously that need to be converted)

any idea on working time needed to complete this (talking about working hours)

if everything goes well i might as well translate it into russian and polish as well.

Ain't sure about working hours, but 2-3 months of work should be OK if/until you keep the golden "more work, less talk" rule. Actually, user "Ardent" could possibly tell you a whole fairy tale about this matter.

Reserve a time for educating yourself and having a good pre-production including a small design doc. It's always kind of a fuck-up when you realize that you might have grabbed here downloadable graphics packs, or that the final product just does not looks like the very early intentions.

Oh, and make something bizarre & not-yet-seen, please. :postviper:

Or just learn how to handle fo2mapper and join my beloved FOBGE (follow the link below :D).

Hello.

The time in working hours depends on your skill with Fallout scripts and the complexity of dialogue and quests. I suppose the latter won't be very complex, since you're aiming to have a look at how it goes.

Well, TBH, Jesterka sounds quite viable with the 2-3 months prediction, of course if you put yourself to it and spend at least 2-3 hours a day on it. If you're new to mapping and scripting, I'd say 3-5 months. The process goes pretty slow at the beginning (especially mapping).

I recommend you write a detailed, thorough design document first. You should especially take into consideration how the quests work, what variables and what values of those are responsible for which elements, etc. Have a look at Van Buren design documents - they were done by professionals.

Good luck with the mod!
