Kansas city, failed objective

Dunno about the plans. Or do you mean that he was unhappy that the ghouls didn't give more information about the bomb? I think I allowed several ghouls to get killed and ended up with a minor reprimand. I didn't feel like replaying the mission, so I just took the reprimand and went on. My guess is that you can't allow any of the ghouls to get killed (or maybe only one or two?)

You may not have killed all the attacking mutants, check to make sure there are non hiding around. I re-did the mission when I got this message (yeah sad I know, way too much time on my hands) I hadnt got the mission complete in my pip-boy cause of 1 pesky mutant hiding in a tent.

I get the same thing and I'm reasonably sure I killed every one of the muties. At least when I kill what appears to be the last Mutant the objective stating that I must protect the bishop registers as complete and yet I still get chewed for pissing the bishop off so that he doesn't share his bomb secrets. I got a lot of Ghouls killed during the attack wave of Mutants so how few is few enough to keep Bishop happy and how do you pull it off? I know I can't stand toe to toe with that huge mutant attack at south gate. It's all I can do not to get smoked completely.

And worse i got my reputation from shield of hope(smthing like tt) to Betrayer... Damn Kansas...

I managed to prevent the Bishop from getting mad the second time round. I think you have to make sure no mutants get through the gates.

My tips, send 1 sniper to the N gate, and 1 heavy weapon/burst to the W gate, send everyone else to the S gate and hope for the best, I also used a few rockets to thin the mutants down on thier way towards the gates. Then you will have to run to the (im not sure of the exact order but..)other gates with the main squad to back up the others as more mutants charge in.

I think you also have to be careful not to gun any ghouls down with your own squad.

I forget exactly how many ghouls were killed but I think I was exceedingly lucky.

I don't think that's the case. No super mutants passed the gates, and he still not happy with my performance. I think you must save ALL the gouls, which is almost impossible. If they just stay in the damn cathedral, it would be much easier.

I lost all the ghouls at the south gate and most of the ones at the north end it didn't affect my rep at all, so if your rep went down you probably killed some ghouls by accident.

It did not affect my rep when a bunch of the ghouls got killed. It just affected the performance rating on the mission. Big difference. I just figured it wasn't worth my time to redo the mission and try and save all the ghouls. Most of the ghouls suck anyway, since they can't use armor.

I couldn't believe after all the time I spent figuring out just how to survive the mission, I got chewed out. Just for that I'm never watching "That 70's Show" without cursing "Red". I think if you kill any Ghouls, they turn on you. I thought my hardest problem would be hauling my loot away. Fuck, I would suggest building up your weapons skills in the wastelands before even hitting this mission. I tried for an hour and a half standing on the front line with the Ghouls and I got smoked every time. I finally just sniped from the windows of the Cathedral. I thought I was clever, guess not. I think the only way to pull this mission off is to have multiple highly experienced snipers. Otherwise, the stupid Ghouls just charge in front of your weapons or, even worse, into oncoming traffic. I think the guy who said he made it is lying. The mutants didn't charge much from the north gate.

I think It has to do with making sure you talk to the bishop, just keep talking to him until he doesn't have anything left to say. Also make sure not too many ghouls get killed. First protect the ghouls on the east, then run north and south to protect those ghouls. then just sweep the south. I completed the objectives just fine. I think I still got chewed out thought. I can send you a saved game if you like.

Talked to Bishop, got almost all the ghouls at the north and south entrances killed though. Bishop was pretty pissed off, which is a bummer because I kinda need the sniper rifles northern dead ghouls have.

ALSO: What combat mode did you all use? I used individual turn-based and the ghouls got chewed up, but I didn't get touched much.

I send Jo with a machine gun to the west gate - that's all it takes to keep those buggers dancing. I just have four other guys though. Stitch also uses big guns, so he goes south with my main character. Farsight and Rebecca (now also a good sniper) rush north. Problem is - by the time I get north, one ghoul is already toast! I arrive just in time to see him get splattered by a machinegun burst. "Pretty spectactular!" I thought the first time, until I got chewed out at the end. But like I said, lots of ghouls bit the dust. Just one goofy mutant with a machinegun blows most of the north guys away. The south gate action is pretty cool too. SO many mutants! Too bad I'm on the wrong side of the line... I don't know what people are talking about "waves." They all bum rush at the same time south even after friendly fire problems and me shooting bunches of them down, the guys with the pipes make it past my lines - REALLY annoying.

Oh, yeah. Do you have to REALLY run to set those mines down? I'd LOVE to try that!

Yeah, the bishop and general gets mad when too many ghouls die, dunno if it 'when even one dies' but this is extremely hard to acomplish without anyone killed. It would be a LOT easyer if the ghouls woudn't run to kick the supermutant ass, just shoot them.

I belive that you would need atleas 2 minigunners/rocketlauncher guys, one at W and one at S gate, north is mined so atleast one of my snipers (jo) holded them off without losses on northgate.

West gate lost 3 guys, thou i DID mine it, but since i fucked up the mining only 1 got hit by them and rest were blow by my minigunners... and Southgate lost 1 guy since he ran to kick the mutants, got very chewed by them, the south gate was guarded by one rocketlauncher dood with ~20 rockets so what i saw was some really nice mutant gibbing (and effective). I belive this is hardest mission in the whole game to accomplish 100%, so all you need is some briliant tactics and a hell of a lot luck :)

I sent farsight to the north gate with a sniper rifle, my character to the west with a sniper rifle and pancor jackhammer, and everyone else to the south gate. Once farsight and my character mopped up their areas, I sent them to the south gate. I only had a few ghouls die at the south gate. My strategy was to have Stitch stand alone and be the one closest to the mutants (still pretty far away), and use a whole bunch of stimpacks. The thing with automatic weapons fire is that a person standing alone is much less likely to get hurt than people (or critters) in a group. So Stitch will just be out there waving his arms around saying "Hey, shoot me" and using stimpacks, while the rest of my squaddies are shooting the mutants in the eye.

I didn't get chewed out much at all in this mission, I only lost 2 ghouls, the bishop seemed happy with that. The 2 ghouls I lost was that idiot that runs out on the south gate (I have heard that u can protect him with a shotgun if you get someone there fast enough but I found it hard to do, felt like shooting him myslef). The other one was on the west gate.

I didn't send anyone to the north gate, as that is protected by mines and you can get there in time after the other 2 gates are pretty much under control. I had 2 guys on the west gate, that is a rush gate, so I had Boomer and Kevin there, Kevin with a shot gun and Boomer with a machine gun and grenades. The South gate is where the main attack is so I had my other 4 guys there. I started again when the patch came out and had made it to the Mutant base before the patch, so knew what weapons became avaliable. I gave my main char a str of 9 so on this mission he was using a Browning. I had 3 snipers by this stage, I put Farsight up on the top of the wall, she gets better range up there, (she can also hit the guy that comes around the tent to flank you) and the other 2 at the back. I play squad turn based and didn't have many problems it would be hard to play CTB with this mission, as I was continually changing guns, grenades e.t.c, and used targeted shots a lot. If I remeber rightly on the South gate there is a lot of big gun guys, (the west only has a couple the rest are melee)if you try to kill them it uses up to much of your much needed fire power better to maim them or knock them out. I used Rage who has the Awarness perk so was able to see who had what gun and concentrated on knocking out the big guns with my snipers, while my main guy who I had up the front behind the sand bunkers killed the rest.

I totally wasted the guys on the west and south gates, and than went over and had a look at the north gate and the ghouls had held up okay with only one mutant left and no dead ghouls.

One more thing you do have to talk to the bishop about 3 times at the end, as mentioned above keep intiating converstion till script appears above his head (I talked to him after doing the gates and than again after clearing out the ones in the tents I had to keep intiating it both times he has a lot to say). Hope this helps :-)

Wasn't chewed out at all at the end, don't know why.
Lost ALL the ghouls at the south gate, and one at the west gate (the one that runs out to meet the muties).
Only talked to the Bishop once. But it was AFTER I completed ALL the objectives.
All I did was rush to defend the west gate. Put two snippers on top of south gate-tower, two more behind the sand bags (crouched),and the last with a big gun to get any muties that got close (none did).
Then I went to south gate and killed several muties as they came through the gate. After that it was clean-up. Even stripped all the bodies and put anything I couldn't carry into lockers and chests till I could go back for them.
Maybe the key is not talking to the Bishop till after youv'e completed all three objectives??? Or maybe because I sent one man to talk to him and he had enviro-armour???

>I've finished all the main objectives
>but when I leave the
>map, the dude at debriefing
>says my incompetance isn't to
>be tolerated anymore for not
>returning plans of that atom
>bomb... wtf?! how do I
>retreive those plans???

I had a pretty good team with me(Stitch, Farsight, ALice, Boomer, Krldraav and me of course) and I divided the group to two:Krldraav & Stitch defending the west gate and the rest defending the south gate. Only 2 or 3 ghouls died and all the muties attacking from the north died in the mine field.
It was a decent fight, but I had to load only few times.
Then, after the fight, I talked to Bishop and went to destroy the three Super Mutant Commanders(locs. in the map). After that, the Bishop thanked and said I could take the nuke. Then I returned to extraction point and the General congratulated me.
Simple.
