KDE or GNOME

First time out of the vault
I have decided to make the switch to linux, and have tried both main desktop environments.
In my opinion GNOME is much easier to use and is quite a lot tidier, however there are some good parts of KDE that I like.
So far I have only experimented with Ubuntu and Kubuntu.
The only main problem I have found (and this is a general one) is that it is incredibly difficult to get my WiFi card working, but thanks to the ndiswrapper it is possible (eventually).
Can anyone recommend any other good distributions and possibly inform me on the long term use of KDE and GNOME and which seems to be more problematic.

I prefer KDE. Many people, including me, initially dislike KDE, switch to GNOME for quite a while and then switch back. You need some time to figure it out for yourself.
I can't tell you exactly why I find KDE superior. GNOME is fancy 'n' neat and all, but it feels hollow somehow. I'm still using KDE4 though, I tried KDE5 once and didn't like it that much.
