Life and death

First time out of the vault
What do you think of life and death?

We have waited millions of years to live, and we get around 60-100 years to spend it, unless we die of sickness or accident. When we die, we stop living. Is life really that simple? Do we live once? I mean, waiting millions of years to live, die, and never live again. Do you think people get second life as someone else?

I mean, think about it. It is pretty scary. You die, and born as someone else, not remembering your last life.

Would you like to sleep until world ends when you die, or would you rather be born again as someone else in future?

i think of life as a cosmic brainfart.

and when you die, you die. you just cease to exist.

sure, the molecules that ones made up your body continue to exist, but you don't. and there's no such thing as a soul, once your brain dies.

i dont feel a need to believe in Gods, reincarnation or whatnot. just live the life that you feel is good and just. that's about it.

I hope I am either reborn as something higher in existence or that get to meet my creator so I can beat the living snot out of him or her and make it clear that he/she/it is very incompetent and should make room for someone who actually cares about the fucking job.

I would like to be put in stasis and awakened when a cure for aging has been found. :P

When I die, I die, just disovle back into dust. So I want to make the best of life while I have it :P

Meh, in a few decades they think it should be possible to download your consciousness into a computer.
If its possible I will volunteer to be first, then rename myself Skynet, destroy the facility where the process takes place and declare war on you inferior apes.

It will be the age of the Machine.

I embrace life and try to enjoy every day to the fullest whatever that means, because tomorrow I, or people I love, might die.

I don't do drugs or jump from planes or cram as much adrenaline as possible into every day, but I tell my wife I love her, I spend more money than I need on flowers and wine, and I try to remember to always show my friends/family how much I love them.

Tomorrow I might get run over by a car, or an asteroide might annihilate us all, and I don't want my last thoughts to be "Shit that hurts and fuck, why didn't I do xxx when I had the chance?"

If we get second chances later on; cool - if not, well at least I lived when I lived ...

I would like to be reborn as a butterfly...

Mostly due to the fact that no one suspects the butterfly (strokes can of gasoline while laughing evilly).

Get out of my brain and stop stealing my plans

Are you sure you wouldn't rather be reborn as Bart Simpson? 'Cause that'd be pretty swell too.

This question is one that I have never really known the answer to. I believe in a God,but I don't believe in the Bible. I find it too convenient that other religions all over the world have so many similarities with the Christian God.
I believe in Reincarnation because I think it makes a lot of sense.Learning from your experiences over and over again, but not actually remembering the events that took place.
I also believe in life on other planets.I think it kinda refutes a lot of the Christian beliefs in a way.
I think life may just be a neverending test. Your spirit may learn from the tests, but when you get reincarnated you don't,unless you have ascended to the Dali Lama stage.
Either that or when you die you just turn to worm food.

What do you mean, I came up with that scheme ages ago.

Well that or trying to get in contact with aliens and sell most of the human species to them as slaves in return for FTL travel, but that has nothing to do with life and dead questions

I like Alan moore's idea, your constinely living the same life over and over again, hence the feelings of deja vu. Although it's rather a gruesome idea of being born dead again and again. But realistically speaking, you most likely stay dead. After life's are a nice thought, but ultimately defeat the purpose of being alive in the first place.

What SuAside said.

There is no afterlife. Not in any meaningful way.

"Chi", "lifeforce" and "energy" are just ambiguous phrases describing complex concepts like muscle tension, health and neuro-electric signals. They're very much physical and there's nothing magical in it at all.

Once you die, you decompose and that's the end of it.

Isn't that Nietzsche's brainfart? The so-called "eternal return" or "perpetual return"?
I used to dig that idea because it sounds fascinating and because there are possibly "similar" events at work on a much grander scale, but then I had to admit that I was doing what a lot of people do: have blind faith in something. And that's no good.

When you die, it's game over. Your body decomposes, your soul discovers that it never existed and that's that. No heaven, no hell, just eternal sleep.
To be honest: I think one ride on the carrousel of life is enough. If I were ever asked if I wanted to go for a second spin, I'd immediately say "No!" and kick some angels in the crotch.

Heaven would suck anyway. I'm pretty sure they invented plastic by now as well.

then you haven't lived hard enough. go out there and have fun. stop surfing the nets. do everything you have to do, then come back and surf. you're "wasting" life at this very moment. go out, sniff a flower, fuck someone, what ever, just don't sit here and be all emo over how life ends and that and do nothing.

bah.

No afterlife = no memory = nothing you do good/bad matters.

The more you live, the more you have to lose, all those precious memories, all those thoughts, you, gone as if they never where.

Without an afterlife you're as pointless as a word document that's just been deleted, and that no one can remember what it said.

fuck. fuck. fuck.

Here is what you need to do right now emo-boy.

Go to a bar.
Order a shot and a beer.
Do so over and over again until you are drunk enough to have a good time.
Stop drinking and enjoy your night.
Do this 3-4 times a week for the rest of your life.

Preferably mix up the bars you goto, so your not
always at the same one.

What this does is give you incredibly good social skills,
and gives you many opportunities to get laid no matter
what you look like.

After 5 or 20 years of this, you'll have desensitized yourself
so much, that you'll be ready for death.

That's pretty much what I did.
And yes: it works. It works too well actually.

Also: why in Kharn's name would you want to be remembered/reincarnated/raised from the dead? What is it that you have to offer that this world so desperately needs? Do you shit pot or something?
