Don't know how many of you remember this game, but there's an interesting interview over on the Codex about the development (and failures) of it:

Primarily interviews the Lead Designer Ion Hardie, but Chris Avellone also chimes in a bit at the end.
Thought it might be of interest to NMA since Lionheart is the only non-Fallout game to use the SPECIAL system.

This looks cool as hell. I missed this somehow...

Was it really that bad? Any mods ever fix it?

I played that game again just a few months ago. I even talked about that game around here in NMA before.

It was pretty good... the first part.
The first part is our character playing in Barcelona and surrounding areas. It has some typical RPG quests but I also love the inclusion of historical figures, and plays a lot like any other real time with pause RPG. But after the first part it just turns into mostly an action RPG, followers suck since you can't give them equipment or control them, I also think they do not grow stronger with time/player level.
There are four factions and we can join one of them, the Knight Templars (typical fighter characters), the Inquisition (typical cleric/priest characters), the Wielders (typical wizard/mage characters) and the Dark Wielders (typical evil wizards/mages/necromancers). There is also another faction but it is a minor one and you can't really join, only become something like a favored one from that, they are called Order of Saladin.
I always loved the first part, but then after I do everything in the first part I just lose interest in the game.

Also there aren't many mods for that game at all.
