Slippy sloppy, The
Let's document the amount of fuck-ups that Fallout 76 has done.
I'll update the original post as the rest of you point out more and more.
The point of this is to basically be able to look back at this thread to refresh your memory after a year or more and be reminded of every single issue that Fallout 76 had.
Lawsuit (will be updated as new details emerge):
The Bugs:
I'll leave it at this for now and update this thread a little bit later when I've properly woken up.
Again, please post any information about F76's issues so that we can remember them forever in a neat compiled list.
I'll update the original post as the rest of you point out more and more.
The point of this is to basically be able to look back at this thread to refresh your memory after a year or more and be reminded of every single issue that Fallout 76 had.
- The Beta - The beta started a month before release (which is far too short of a timeframe for them to actually listen to the feedback and make appropriate changes, especially when it comes to bug-testing) and even then you could only play during specific hours.
- Redownloading Beta - There was a bug in the launcher that basically removed the entire game when the beta first rolled out so that those who had preloaded it and had this issue had to waste their time and internet data and timeslot to redownload the entire thing.
- The First Patch - The patch was bigger than the game itself. How is that even a patch? If it was because the beta client and the 1.0 client had to be completely swapped then say that, don't call it a patch.
- Push To Talk - Is not in the game as of the release of the game. Bethesda addressed this issue and said it was on purpose because they wanted players to engage with one another.
Skyrim Dragons- The end game enemy of the game, Scorch Beasts, are apparently literally Skyrim Dragons reskinned/remodeled but using the exact same animations and AI.- After going over some videos I gotta say that no, it's not Skyrim dragons.
- The Bag - The Power Armor Edition of the game that comes with the helmet also came with a bag. All the way past the time of the games release the bag is stated to be a "canvas" bag, however the bag people got was "nylon" bag. Bethesda addressed this by saying that the canvas bag would have been too expensive for them to make and while it's unfortunate that you don't like the nylon bag they have no plans to do anything about it.
But hey, Bethesda's willing to give you 500 Atoms for the bag, which translates to 5 bucks. Which can give you barely anything in their microtransaction store.
- The Refund - Someone contacted Bethesda and asked for a refund. They said that they would issue it but that they couldn't at the moment. Then just a day later they told him that you can't get a refund if you've downloaded the game. Thing is, in order to play the game you have to download it.
- Three Nukes - If you launch three nukes at once, which you can at the time of release, the server crashes. Wouldn't it have been among the first things that Bethesda playtested when it came to seeing if the nukes would work?
- Cardboard Disc - The game does not come with a physical disc as any game normally would. Instead it comes with a cardboard cutout of a disc with a code you can redeem online.
- The Steel Case - Now, I've only heard this but I haven't seen it myself so I'll have to look around for this a bit but the Platinum Edition Prima Guide thingie supposedly comes with a Steel Case for your game disc. ... ... The Cardboard disc. A steel case.... For a cardboard disc... Which becomes useless after the code is used...
- 20 Year Old Lore - I'll just copy paste what Bethesda said about this issue in Fallout 76, specifically when it came to the uproar over the inclusion of BOS:
- "Well lots of people will say things happened one way," and the opposite or something else could entirely be true. So there's no question that we've gone back to change things to fit what developers have wanted to do, and not be holden to something that somebody wrote 20 years ago.
- Paywalling Vanilla Content - Fallout 76 has a microtransaction store. Since it is a live service online game that they have promised to support for years to come I can't fault them too much for wanting to have some form of recurrent revenue. After all, they need to get paid for releasing supposed free content in the months/years to come. However, in the microtransaction store you can find tattoo's from Fallout 4 behind a paywall. Get it? Fallout 76 is an asset flip of Fallout 4, yet they've removed features of the game in order to paywall them in a microtransaction store. What you got for free in Fallout 4 you get to pay for in Fallout 76.
- No Safety - Because the game lacks encryption players who are savvy in how to exploit the tools of their game can abuse it to cheat easily and even mod the game, sometimes even just porting a Fallout 4 mod. Most worrying is that from what I've read it seems like you can even find other players' IP address.
- Codes Don't Change - Nuclear codes apparently doesn't change, so just find a code online and you can nuke to your hearts content.
- UI On PC - The UI on PC is especially atrocious this time around as it is ripped straight from the console port and has the strangest key layout for navigating and operating building menu's in camps.
- Private Servers - No private servers for at least a year after release. The conspiracy theory is that they know private servers will allow mods and they want to make the most out of their ingame microtransaction store as they can before the floodgates open to the modding community.
- On Sale - Weeks after launch the game is on sale. Games that perform well do not end up on sale after a week or two and certainly not dropping from 60 bucks to 40 and then 35, regardless of whether or not it is Black Friday.
- Still No FOV Slider - How long have people wanted an FOV slider? Since 2005? Yeah there's still no FOV slider ingame. You have to manually edit game files to allow different FOV.
- No Human NPC's - While there are story reasons for this it is still something that a lot of people are criticizing this game for. Granted, Todd said on the reveal that every human you'd meet would be another player. So it's not like they lied about this in any way. However, it still doesn't mean that the product is received well or that anyone wanted this.
- Neutered PVP - Can't engage in PVP until level 5. Pacifist mode enabled by default. You do a tiny amount of damage to another player until they shoot you back, accepting the duel or PVP. If you die you lose your junk and some caps however you can respawn almost instantly nearby and engage in PVP again. If you manage to somehow kill someone without engaging in PVP then you become wanted by the server. If you continue this behavior then a debuff is activated on you because you dared to PK other players.
Lawsuit (will be updated as new details emerge):
- Class Action Lawsuit - Because of their practices a lawfirm has taken it upon themselves to start a class action lawsuit against Bethesda when it comes to the issue of not allowing refunds.
The Bugs:
- Framerate dip when shooting weapons.
- Framerate tied to FPS, looking down makes you run faster.
- Enemies stuck in T-Pose.
- There's a glitch that causes you to perform zero damage to enemies.
- There's a glitch that gives you god mode.
- You can fall under the map.
- Textures don't fully load.
- Godrays shining through the ground.
- Power Armor invisible when used.
- Power Armor changes the player model so it doesn't clip through the armor, however your character model can get stuck in this weird abominable state.
- Enemies simply just appearing out of nowhere. Not respawn, just simply *POOF* There.
I'll leave it at this for now and update this thread a little bit later when I've properly woken up.
Again, please post any information about F76's issues so that we can remember them forever in a neat compiled list.
