Medieval 2 : total war demo. Really.

The demo covers two battles, three if you include the tutorial. The tutorial is the Battle of Hastings, and it's a good rundown for beginners. The Battle of Pavia and the Battle of Agincourt are the only other scenarios available. The second being a battle in the middle of the Hundred Years War, you command the forces of Henry V and are pitted against French cavalry, crossbowmen, and knights and whatnot. It's a really fun scenario as you can see the hundreds of men at your command clashing with the hundreds of your adversary's.

What I also really liked about this game was the use of gunpowder. Though you don't get to use any cannons yourself, and have to instead take out your opponent's, arquebuses are available at your disposal, and your Spanish allies have a few musketeers, as well. Lining up my matchlock infantry against charging soldiers tickles me in ways that I've never imagined. I'll be looking forward to more of this in the final release.

The demo doesn't cover much of anything else, however, and leaves you thirsting for more (which is the point to a demo). I did wish they included some playable material about the new diplomatic options, religious aspects, etc... but they do include a video of most of the things covered in Medieval 2, so don't you ladies fret.

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this game, and will play it as soon as I can get my hands on it. Until then, I shall spill French and Saxon blood by the thousands at a time. FOR THE EMPEROR!

P.S.

I'm looking foward to the Crusades so much, that I think I just shit my pants.

The game's minimum requirements are not at all high, oddly enough. 512 RAM, 128MB video card with Shader 1 support (so that means that anything better than a GeForce FX 5600 or a Radeon 9200 will be able to play it), 1.8 GHz Processor...The only insane number is that of 11 Gigs of hard disk space required

I also heard some rumors about AMD Processors not being able to run the game AT ALL until a patch comes out. Can anybody confirm this?

Same here, my AMD running fine.

I can breathe easy now. It's almost exactly the same as Rome gameplay wise (or at least the tactical section is). I was afraid they'd totally screw it up by trying to do something new and totally ruining it.

God I'm so excited.

Yeah, I forgot to add I have a laptop with little or no graphics capacity. I can play Rome: Total war, but only if I have one unit in my army.

Fuck Fileplanet. Fuck it right up the ass. Get it here instead.

Umm, if you're into that sort of thing...

I like fileplanet, and I'm not a subscriber. Yes, you have to wait to begin your download, but after that I find they have the fastest download times of any of the usual suspects. Now, they have this download manager so I can pause in the middle of downloads if I want the bandwidth, and resume later with out loosing the download so far or my place in line.

As for the demo, eh, it didn't really grab my attention. With out the strategic building phase and the tactical place your own troops phase, it just isn't the same experience.

Well, the battles were okay. A bit too easy, but okay, with the random face dudes and blood splatters.

Just wait till the real thing comes out to judge.

Indeed, but it seems to be as easy as RTW and there i rarely lost a battle.

This isnt anything new, most game today offer no really challange in SP.
Quake 4 was pretty hard on the hardest setting tho. But thats like the only game in.. years that has been a real challange imo.
