They are "made" at the Georgians because the revolution overthrew the pro-Russian government and installed a pro-Wester one, same for the Ukraine. This pisses Russia off.

These gas-power politics are getting a bit ridiculous, though.
 
Russia and Georgia better reach a compromise quick or us rats will be forced to intervene.
 
I'm personally "made" due to the genocidal practices of Georgian troops against places like Ajara and South Ossetia. I've dealt with the refugees. I'm related to more then a few.

Georgia has a Chechnya sized problem that the West refuses to acknowledge. Georgia sends money, weapons and recruits to extremist Islamic groups that kill Russian civilians on a daily basis.

I'm not saying anyone is blameless, but at least this way maybe the Georgian population will see that their leadership cannot endorse these actions without consequences. Even if Moscow's motives are purely a show of strength, I think its about damn time they did SOMETHING in the Caucasus other then blowing up Chechen hospitals and pretending all other problems simply don't exist.

This seems most likely to me. Russia is trying to use the gas card to get around the obvious fact that it can't compete with the US-EU in terms of international influence any more. Even on it's own doorstep.
