Planescape Torment available on GOG

I've never really had issues getting SS 2 to work on my Windows 7 rig, Planscape however is a tricky little beast. I made it up to the sewers before the game started acting wonky in ways a normal XP fueled copy would never do. This is definitely on my "to buy list"

God dammit. Looks like this is another CRPG I'll buy and put on the shelf for months... and Baldur's Gate just had to come out a few days ago as well, plus there's all these new games coming out as well... urg. Too much!

I know what you mean. I bought a 4-in-1 pack that had all the core BG games and expansions. I even got that nifty mod that puts them all together under the BG 2 updated IE for one streamlined experience. Did I ever play it? Nope. And it's been 3 years since. And its still on my computer waiting to be played lol.

It's mainly a guess, because before this whole stunt happened System Shock 1 and 2 (even though SS1 is freeware, according to the devs'/publisher's licensing), Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 were at the top of the "I want this on GOG" voting list.

So I'd say it's very likely, seeing as Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 1 are already there. Plus, System Shock 2 is kind of a bitch to work on modern OSes, it takes a bit of time but I would welcome a GOG installer which has everything fixed.

I'd love to see SS2 fully optimised for modern machines... My biggest pipe dream involves SS2 fully converted into Source engine.

*masturbates furiously*

I hope so - I intend to install it soon and search for as many mods/fixes/updates as I can. What an amazing game...

It was a bitch to get it running without constantly crashing, but SS2 definitely works on modern machines.

I was able to play through the full thing in coop mode with a friend, after about 3 hours of troubleshooting.

Hey, neat! Thank you kindly, sir! :ok:

Nou problemou mate. You planning a solo or a coop game? I'd be up for SS2 coop myself.
Right now I'm having trouble just installing it. Stops responding as soon as I run the .exe and shows as v1.000 even with the patches installed. I shouldn't need anything else beyond the three files you linked, right?

EDIT: got it to work up to a point when I start a new game - it loads, but then minimizes into Windows with no warning message. I'm forced to close the application every time! What a frustrating bug, can't find any help online...

I wish these older games were available in places like supermarkets etc. I don't want to go to those 'gamestores' where a bunch of little kids laugh at you when you buy an older game. When buying my groceries I might be inclined to pick up an oldie from a discount bin but from what I know they've done away with the discount bins. Sucks.

I also don't like ordering over the net.

I agree, its hard to find these old classics in the high-street, if not impossible, as places like Game and supermarkets don't care or don't want to know, they only care about big budget titles, even indie games are hard if not impossible to find over the net, only direct from the publisher or sometimes on steam / impulse, but rare, many old classics like SS2, are very hard to find in a box format, you might get lucky on places like ebay, but the price you may pay is probably more then what the game is worth or originally worth, its a real rotten way of things, when old games are hard if not near impossible to find :( :(

geez, everyone it seems forgot the topic here is planescape...

re-remembering the ones who didnt play this wonderful game yet that there are a couple of nice unofficial patches to make the gameplay better and resolution bigger at http://www.spellholdstudios.net/

READ CAREFULLY ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS AT THE READMES OF THOSE FILES TO ENSURE YOU INSTALLED EVERYTHING CORRECTLY. IN DOUBT, READ IT AGAIN 5, 10, 15 TIMES IF NEEDED.

Before install the game there is a good guide to help with this, it helps to configure the game too: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/4120...ion-guide/?s=d7f5dd96818924ee12d56dde38c883b9

Main thing I like about it is that now it's on GoG there are more up to date fixes for users with Nvidia cards, shame someone can't reverse engineer BG 2 to get the option that fixes the problems.
