Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Well, not so much PA Fan Fic, but just a novel type idea that I have been putting together slowly over the past 12-18 months. Any feedback is great, and remember, it is still in it's early days, so names and places are still sketchy, as is the chemical substance...

Here :) :

Prologue: Dawn of Tomorrow

Oil. It was said to be the life blood of the modern world. It lubricated the gears of the machine that is the industry of the manufacturing world. It was the blood that engines worldwide thirsted for. It was supposed to be and infinite supply, and solve our ever increasing energy needs.

But even the most abundant supply has to have it's limits.

And this is what happened.

Supplies started to run dry in 2024. The 1st world countries, the "Western" civilizations started hoarding what supplies they could from their own oilfields, squandering little in a vain attempt to squeeze what they had, to keep their country moving.

But the US Military had been researching a substance, known as SDC, which was an anomaly until the day they realised it's full potential. It was a strange substance, first discovered in regional parts of deserts worldwide, deep underground. Originally found by oil expeditions deep in the deserts of Africa, then Australia and the United States of America. Opportunists collected what they found, and were approached by the US Military to continue research upon it. It took 7 years to find out what use the deep purple, high viscosity liquid had in terms of production and manufacturing. And when they did, it was a find that brought another abundance. Economic powers fought for the diplomatic rights to continue excavation of the material, but governmental rumblings started occurring in the southern parts of Texas, near the Mexican border... What SDC refineries existed there disappeared overnight.

The US Military thought little of it, as they had their major processing plants in central North America. But when they came under fire, from a force they had never seen, they jumped to their feet and fought. Completely outnumbered and out gunned, they had one option that would ensure their survival at the refineries and secure their processing mastery of the still relatively unknown chemical of SDC...
