Ever thought of useful radios ? It would be cool if you had a radio that actually worked. If you joined something like the NCR rangers and you could call for help or whatever with it. Maybe like this :

I think something like that could fit the game nicely, if done properly.

I like the idea, but they should work on frequencies, like if you need to see what an enemy nearby is saying to his team, but you'de need the frequency
