Rage or Dungeon Siege 3

Mr Krepe

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
Right, I know the genre's are different, but my brother just approached me and asked which one I want for christmas, you guys have any idea which one is better than the other. Yes, I know Rage isn't out yet, but by perception would it be better than Dungeon Siege 3.

I agree with Ravager, with the note that I don't like any Dungeon Siege. But DSIII seemed kind of snoozy and awkward. I like the engine tho'.

If you have a machine that can beast through Rage (or a console), get Rage

Your perception is most likely absolutely right Mr Krepe :) , another vote for RAGE from me.

The recently released system requirements are surprisingly modest for a game of this technical calibre.

[spoiler:97be61824d]

Minimum:

OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or Equivalent AMD
Memory: 2GB
Hard Disk Space: 25GB
Video Card: GeForce 8800, Radeon HD 4200

Recommended:

OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or Equivalent AMD
Memory: 4GB
Hard Disk Space: 25GB
Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI Radeon HD 5550

Knowing Id it will probably even run pretty good on such low end systems.

Doom 3 running on obsolete hardware:

Rape or Dungeon Siege III, is that even a choice? Oh, wait.

DSIII since by Christmas your bro probably can get it for less than $10. In that case ask your bro for a combo of the two.

Also IMO if DSIII is bland so are all other Obsidian games (Including New Vegas).

I have a question:

PC or Console?

(Both games are multi-platform release)

I would say get RAGE. DS 3 sucks really bad. Kinda like Space Siege.

pain, just a note....

their "recommended" specs notes 4 gigs of ram. they are lying about their OS by not saying 64 bit OS. most likely because that would draw attention that their game recommends a 64 bit OS and its only a 32 bit app.

unfortunately that is becoming more and more popular lately i have been noticing.

"recommending" a 64 bit OS without saying it for their 32 bit app.

Well, I have a PC and a PS3, I understand the computer would be graphically better, but I feel more comfortable playing console, with just recently getting my PC.

Well I don't like short games anyhow. I like games that take effort, that need a player's dedication to complete.

I would go for Rage. It seems to be much more fun compared to Dungeon Siege III. I really hoped that DS III would be good, but the writing and the dialogue at begining of the game was so bad that I didn't even bother finishing the demo. It sure looks pretty, but on the other hand, so does Rage.

Won't your computer only be able to utilize the 4gig requirement if it is 64 bit>?

Nothing from ID has ever been bad, so go with Rage ?
And no Quake 4 and Doom 3 are very good games, they just dont live up to the legend, but how could they....

Also if you are at all interested in Multiplayer, get it for PC....

DSIII is a big disappointment for any H&S lover. Too easy, too short...

Well, if you play on casual...... Because there sure as hell are hard fights. And compared to other Obsidian games there was quite a bit more challenge (not saying much)

I can give you short though.

@Serge 13 What was badly written? I'd say generic at most(the beginning). And please beyond mentioning the repeated use of a full name.

correct, to go above 2.0 gig or if you are using XMI 3.5 gigs of ram.

having the "reccomended" of 4 means they are recommending you have use a 64 bit OS and never say it.

my guess is so the OS and any other TSRs you have can take up to the 2 gig so their program has a full 2 gigs to work with.

so they recommend a 64 bit OS and never say it. for the layman that is a slap in the face because that is a technical detail and your average consoletard layman wont understand.

Decades later and I'm still playing Doom religiously. Rage looks awesome. I hope it maintains that standard of longevity.

DSIII was junk. Glad there was a demo of it because I was really set on buying it. In the end, it felt too restrictive for a H&S RPG game. I'll stick with Sacred 2 for that fix, thank you very much. Better character options, better gameplay. Just overall better.

Quake 4 is not a bad game, it's just like "meh, I did all of this in Quake 2". But running with the tanks was very fun.

Doom 3...well, it was boring, the map desing is very dull.

was it that much better in previous doom games ?
Yes, Doom 1 and 2 map design was awesome. In its technical limits, of course. They made the best out of it.
