Recommend Me Some Old Games

I'm slowly building an urge to buy some old games again. What I'm looking for are games that have stood the test of time -- games that have been around for years and still have an active cult of devotees.

Examples of titles I already own: Fallout ( ), Torment, Arcanum, Bloodlines, Jagged Alliance 2, Gothic, and a bunch of others. I don't really have a preference about genre or setting if the game is superb. I've heard Thief is a good series, for instance. Any other ideas? I'm probably going to spend 40-50 USD for three titles.

Along with Age of Mithology + Titans expansion, try Rise of Nations + Thrones & Patriots expansion. Awesome game, finished re-re-playing it a few days ago. Now I'm re-playing Rise of Nations 2: Rise of Legends, and it's damn cool as well.

Empire Earth (especially the first), real cheap off GOG. Age of Empires-style RTS, but you go from cavemen with clubs to laser tanks and huge robots.

The Settlers II, Blue Byte.
Even the remake developed by Ubisoft in 2006 is great.

Descent I, II, III
Myth
Myth II
TES: Morrowind (not that old)
Space Quest (all of them)
Syberia I & II
Lands of Lore
Port Royale

MoO 2, XCOM: UFO Defense, Baldur's Gate 1+2. Should all be on gog.com.

Seriously, just browse the top rated gog games and you're bound to find several gems.

As a comment to some above posts, I'd sooner pick Age of Empires II than Age of Mythology.

Deus Ex
Jedi Knight Outcast
Jedi Academy
Star Trek Voyager Elite Force 1/2
The Longest Journey
Full Throttle
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Day of the Tentacle
Wing Commander (any of them, and Privateer)
Tron 2.0
Aliens VS Predator 2 (don't bother with the expansion packs)
Duke Nukem 3D (with High Definition Pack)
No One Lives Forever 1/2

System Shock and System Shock 2 are good if you haven't played them before.

Empire Earth - the 1st game.

I use to have epic battles with Empire Earth - with up 50,000+ enemy units destroyed. What I liked about it was I could set up these elaborate defenses - rows of towers, artillery, mortar men, planes, tanks, then go to bed and allow the game to play itself. The enemy AI was relentless - but retarded. My killer move was to drop 100 nukes onto the enemy cities with these long conveys of bombers and watch the screen light up white. :P

Outcast. A very atmospheric, underrated game. Give it a try - it's up on GoG too I believe.
