Say no to exploding cars!

It Wandered In From the Wastes
There is simply no reason for all cars to explode when you shoot at them! Seriously, in the previous fallout games all cars where fucking wrecks and had been scavanged for EVERYTHING, even the seat cushions! Why would there be semi-functional cars over in DC that explode when you shoot at them? ARGHH! They should be a real rare thing

Just had to vent.

Because nekular reactors never stop working! Sheesh didn't you learn anything from TV?

Because nearly every FPS needs something to explode when you shoot at it.

Bethesda is simply innovating the series by following nearly every FPS that ever existed!

Dude, we already said no. Everyone is in agreement it's a bad idea, 'cept Bethesda and the gaming media.

And for Bethesda, those are the only people that count

Wrong, they are innovating because they now have mini mushroom clouds explosions, wich only make them seem like a group of ignorants.

Not even.

In Duke Nukem 3D, nearly every explosion was a miniature mushroom cloud.

Get over it you lame loosers! Exploding cars are not only fun, they are REALISTIC. Seriously guys, I don't what part of the stoneage are you living in, but the world has moved forward and laws of physics had to adapt.

It's the shizt.

But it just doesn't make any sense at all! someone should have dug in and taken that fusion cell and use it to power up da neighbourhood :o

How about just placing explosive barrels all over the fucking place?

Yeah its the newest popular thing in FPS games. Exploding barrels (or cars in this case) to liven up the combat.

I agree with everything said so far. Every car in fallout was raided and scavenged and broken down for building materials (junktown ;)). There is no reason, even in a large city, you would have exploding cars. I mean yes putting in somthing that explodes is a good idea but not the cars! Also the mushroom cloud from the car gives it a far more powerful appearance, let down by its small power in comparison.

Perhaps you could have it so if you shoot a car it just bursts into flames or has a small explosion (like a grenade or somthing) from the engine block. Thats slightly more believable but even then I think its pushing it. All cars in Fallout (bar a RARE few) are scrap. Not exploding, not running, not moving, not stable enough to stand on the roof without it falling in -scrap.

That said you never know, maybe the way Beth has done it the 'West side' is just bloody rough, while the 'East side' is jolly and care free with running cars every ten meters. TBH it all depends on exacution, maybe Beth will pull it off but if you just say it like it is "Nuclear exploding cars everywhere" it does sound stupid and not somthing which will compliment the game.

Maybe east coast folks are all lawfull good and don't scavange cars that aren't theirs?

Seriously now, we all know exploding cars are ridiculous and unacceptable, but Beth wants and will implement them. Assholes.

At best, Bethesda starts listening to fans or people will mod out all the stupidity in Fallout 3. At worst, rabid fans will mod the development studio out of planar existence. (LIKE THE FIST OF AN ANGRY GOD!)

If the cars explode when you shoot them, then we should be able to salvage it for... FAT MAN ammunition! lol

But seriously. It is a bad idea. Especially 200 years after Fallout 2? (I think that's right). I don't think any car would still be intact, unless it's in a VERY radioactive area where most people just instantly drop dead the moment they even see said car.

Even then, I don't think the car should explode.. but rather be salvageable for parts and micro fusion cells. To me that is MUCH more fun than simply (and unfallouty/unrealistically) blowing it up.

I think it should not only leave Fatman ammo when destroyed, but also those big coins to collect, which you can later use to unlock some cool minigames!

Ooh! Which game? Super Fallout Brothers? Do we get to jump over radioactive barrels and use a super sledge to defeat Bowsor, the super mutant leader?

Ever read Larry Niven's Ringworld?

I think it might be something along the lines of "OMFW!!! We are be n333333dingzor to inklude something for the stoopid peopill! We kant be having put n00ditee in, so we must putt sumthing for the shiny liking peopill!!!111oneone" in the marketing department w.r.t. the exploding cars.

However, one might say that since hit points are unrealistic, so what that there are exploding cars in the game? Congrats to the programmers who made it look like it does, even though I feel that it shouldn't be in. But hey, "programmers are a tool to fulfill management's wishes," right?

I don't get it. Are you saying exploding cars are the result of the marketing department being afraid of Jack Thompson?

After 200 years, would there even be cars per se(or anything left over from pre-apocalyptic times)?
I saw a screenshot of what looked like an airship.
