This is not so much an idea mining thread, as it is a setting establishment and a detailed reason for the majority reaction towards the last notable game to have the name Fallout (sorry, Chuck, you're still just a joke to us).

This thread is what I like to call the Fallout Tactics Pissmortem. Almost four years old, and one of the better threads on NMA, and is of note to anyone who needs a refresher as to what the Fallout universe is before they post ideas.

It also details the reaction towards inappropriate humor (keep the crotch humor for Disney flicks, please), misguided changes to the Fallout character system (pistols are NOT useless - no skill is unless you make it so), item composition, and the inability of a developer to properly research the pertinent background information and then later having to rework some art after. As a CRPG with a deep, established history, Fallout tends to make people interested in the events and backstory.

Fallout is more setting-driven than dungeon driven, and these points I cannot stress more. On that note, I am sure I can dig up the "what makes an RPG" thread I made from around then, but considering Asswind Dale and the Two-Assed Wind Dale, I have to eat my words on that subject in part. ;)
