"PC Gamer Review by Miroslav - 5:50
The latest issue of PC Gamer has Tactics reviewed. It got 85%, and here's their "bottom line":
Expanding a fine Franchise, FT is the king of tactical combat games.
Expanding?! I would rather say exploiting.
Thanks to William Amos for mailing me this info."

We all know that PCGamer has it's lips collectively around Interplay's, Blizzard's, Ion Storm's and numerous others publisher's sphincters.

I'd lay good money that none of these clueless idiots have even heard of JA2.

Or they think X-Com is a flight sim...

Sometimes i wonder if the people that review games have actually played them. Or, and maybe this is more true, are getting some bottlecaps to make a good review.

Media Whores

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-02-01 AT 09:47PM (GMT)[p]Too many people are afraid of alienating game publishers due to the possibility of not getting sneak peeks and such. It's been this kind of pandering that has led to excusing any and every shitty game's release by any big name. It's been this constant pandering that has let Interplay's dire incompetence and mass-scams with lemon software live and continue on, when in any other industry that would have meant the death of the company. Would DEFINITELY have meant Romero's ass would have been down the crapper (as well as the rest of Ion Storm) if the other team at Ion Storm didn't put him to shame.

Ambitious projects by no-names are usually mocked and recieve lower ratings by PCGamer and such. If I remember right, KISS: Psycho Circus got rave reviews through PCGamer and numerous other places, despite it's dated gameplay (often more basic than Wolfenstein 3D's), shitty engine (Unreal engine would have been 10x better). In other words, a stupid rehacked and themed clone of Duke Nukem 3D. But PCGamer or numerous others do not have the balls to say it outright. "There's some problems with controls at times, and the levels are a bit short, but otherwise it's a good game" - Translation: the engine was a shitty choice, as it couldn't support any industry-standard quality level concepts or gameplay - in other words, it was all jumping puzzles, killing things, and fetching - but GoDGames advertises on our pages, so we're not going to knock it too hard.

Whereas with a FPS that had ambitious starts and promise quickly got the squelch because it was called "an ambitious clone, but probably won't go anywhere". It was likely dismissed because they *could* get away with it, and it won't affect their ad revenue in through ads.

They might say one or two things negative about the games they review, but most reviewers don't have a good set of balls to be truthful. They are too afraid of the game companies pulling their ads and sneak peeks from their magazine or site.

So, in essence, they have become ads and media whores in themselves.

Time to change the channel and bring the industry standard back to the standards where it used to be. Blizzard and Sir-Tech can do quality work with few bugs, so there's no excuse for two-bit shysters like Interplay.
