Thailand, more socially forward than the West?

A friend posted this on another forum I frequent. I found it kind of interesting, because I can imagine the uproar this kind of thing would cause in North America. Of course, jokes about questions asking whether or not you would like the complimentary bags of peanuts are already flying among Thai Expats.

Eh, A lot of places are more socially forward than the west.You guys seem to confuse being promiscuous with maturity. Or at least it seems that way sometimes.

Meh, too simplistic. There are issues where Thailand is more accepting of diversity (like this one), and there are other issues where it falls way behind (like protection of labor).

Also, you can't really group the USA with Western Europe in terms of acceptance of sexual diversity.
