The aesthetic setting of Fallout

First time out of the vault
What do you think about the style of Fallout? Should it continue with the 50s Americana feel, or maybe pick up some things from, say, the 60s or 70s?

Why should something so fundamental for the setting be changed?
How about you give your own opinion, so we can explain why you're wrong properly understand what the purpose of this thread even is.

I'll start. Tactics was supposed to delve into the 60's more which was somewhat apparent by the change in weapons and the opening music. Ideally it shouldn't feel like the 50's, but Bethesda turned Fallout into something it was never meant to be.

Architecture. From New Vegas onwards, it doesn't look like the architecture that belong in Fallout. 1,2 (by inheritance) and 3 sticks with more gothic architecture approach while FNV looks more flat and grounded into real world and F4, well... Lego-city set.
