Two Questions on Fallout 2

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
These may have been asked before, but I didn't really feel like going through the whole forum to see if this is true. I hope you can all understand... :P

First: What is the Vault-like place in the Toxic Caves? Although it's really small, I find it extremely awesome. Its just so creepy and mysterious...
Second: I finished the game, but there was still an empty space on the World Map's List Of Interesting Hot Spots a.k.a. towns and city's and alike... wth is up with that?

Uh-oh.

First: What is the Vault-like place in the Toxic Caves? Although it's really small, I find it extremely awesome. Its just so creepy and mysterious...

A Fire Gecko Assembly Facility, methinks. Not sure.

Second: I finished the game, but there was still an empty space on the World Map's List Of Interesting Hot Spots a.k.a. towns and city's and alike... wth is up with that?

Hmm, let's see... The answer might be "You didn't explore all of the map and its locations?"

Sorry, but you always need to do a forum search first. Asking redundant questions gets annoying quickly, although these aren't really all that redundant.
However, the answers are surprisingly simple:
-It's a weapons deposit.
-You didn't explore the entire world.

0. You got lucky. The search didn't turn up anything. Took me about a minute - less then it probably took you to write the question. Take a look at this - and take notice: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting.php. BTW, why do I bother myself with forum ethics? It's not like I'm a veteran or something...

1. Dunno what the "Vault piece" is. Maybe the FBible has anything (haven't checked. not really interested)?

2. Fallout isn't a linear game. Unlike Quake or Tomb Raider, finishing the game doesn't mean you've been everywhere. Look for a Fallout speed run video - the guy finishes Fallout in 11 minutes, visiting only 2 locations other than Vault 13.

Shadowbird, I'd appreciate it if you'd stop moderating for moderators, especially after a moderator already commented.

Ok, sorry for the whole "Not wanting to search the whole forum" thingy. And I know that movie... I'm guilty as charged... :P

Anyway, I've read all the Bibles except update 9 and haven't found anything.

And I played the game using a walkthrough, in there it was never mentioned (the empty location button) and after I finished the story part of the game, I travelled over the entire map, going from left to right, and there isn't a single dark patch on the map left. But I found nothing. Maybe it's an abandoned concept.

Well, anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions...

If you finish the game and wonder why there's an unused button on the world map screen, it's supposed to be the Raiders button. Before the patch it did show up, but mislabelled "Arroyo". It seems they didn't quite manage to fix it.

There you are.

Thanks Flop.
Once again, the answer to all fallout mysteries can usually be found in Per's guide.

Down! Wooz Down! Lets not snap at newbies.

Shadowbird, thanks for your input. Love that little film.

The Fallout Bible, while wonderful and amusing -and definitely very informative is *NOT* remotely the best source for "walkthrough type" information.

It's mostly backstory and flavor. Histories, design notes, Chris' rantings... that sort of thing. And of course, it was never finished either, which leaves a lot of holes.

I know it's been said a lot, but Per's guide really is one of the best sources out there. I've been an avid Fallout fan since the release of the original demo (read: total junkie), and I've probably visited hundreds of Fallout sites over the years.. So while my opinion might not mean much to anyone, it does at least have some basis and a good deal of comparison.

Anyways...

whos per?

Well, obviously he's the guy who wrote Per's fallout guide, the best fallout/fallout 2 walkthrough out there. He's also a regular poster on NMA.

Ecce Per

You shall bow before His intimate knowledge of the Game of Fallout.

EDIT: Hah, Jebus! The name is Christian! I knew it!

Ekarderif: Funniliy enough, I bet many 'Christians' would be puzzled... but this is not the issue.

Err... i was trying to get at

"Who's per?"

as in, does per have an extension like perfect, perception, perticulate... something of that matter

basically i want a link, LINK!!!!

Aww... he's just a big teddy bear, that smokes and drinks.

He just has that title to throw people off, he got tired of all the hugs.

I didn't think Wooz was harsh...

Anyway, I don't consider the Fallout Bible as a walkthrough. I just meant that there wasn't a nice background story about the Mysterious Toxic Caves Vault-like Thingamajig...

Thanks to the bible I now know that if Europe is gonna attack the Middle-East, I'll have to tell everybody to wear 5.000.000 sunblock on 23 October 2077... :P

Answer For Both Questions

Hey I was mystified by the empty space too, its actually the raider camp, its just a bug that prevents the raider base from showing on your list. And as for the other one I'd say nuclear wast storage facility.
