Pardon this gamespy Spam page, for it's all about ads, it's all about money, the games (industry) info is an accident for Gamespy.

Here's a Yahoo link instead:

Warcraft 3 Expansion now out, and Blizzard bleeds people.
Vivendi must be the place NOT to work. Vivendi was one of those single
celled companies that leveraged the 90's pyrimid scheme of a stock market into a multi national conglomerate that it can't manage.
Classic buy out strategy playing itself out.
It's not bleeding, but puking, never digested it's greedy gobbling.
Selling short no doubt, after Blizzard's been used up.

Vivendi the E. coli of the games and entertainment industry.

How does the grand corporate scheme of Vivendi affect Interplay?

The quality of product or success of games appears to be irrelivant to the corporate agenda of quarterly exploitation of assets.

""for it's all about ads, it's all about money, the games........ an accident for ...."" Vivendi also.

When a business merges into a gonglomerate they cease to have a stake in catering to repeat customers. Their entire focus is on an item as a product and sales to a broad-base of consumers. The product doesn't matter to the management or even the stockholders, it could just as easily be books or toilet paper. Unless a company stays in a niche market, it will ultimately fall into that trap. It's business and it doesn't have anything to do with integrity.

3D or 40D

Here's a niche producer and it appears they've made a console game with all the bug features of a rushed PC title.

This was a console icon(s)(s) that had time, money and a lust to add speech and body developement "RPG" like features.

Pardon another Gamespy reference:

And this reviewer is not happy.

Trust FO:BOS is not this buggy, and wins or loses on it's own game play, and not still born with congenital handicaps.
I'd like to revise my cynicism
enough to allow a profitable FO:BOS, if there is this proposed linkage between a profitable Interplay and a FO3. With Vivendi hovering in the shadows it's not a given.

Here's the Mama of "Pistoles Akimbo":

Or is that "Twin Peaks Akimbo".

Vivendi made their money initially in utilities (power, water, that sort of thing). I think they got caught up in the "oooh, let's buy that and that and that..." candy store mentality that permeated the 90s. Now they realize they are incompetent and want out.

I would like to know why the Blizzard people left; that would tell a lot about what standing VUG is currently in. "Resigned to seek other opportunities" is too vague to make a guess.

The faillure of the GOD experience, with it beeing sold to Take2, put the small but lucrative development houses on the mercy of the big sharks. It showed that they need an umbrella to continue. The large distributors and the large development houses took the opportunity and started aplying the working methods that the new board members and execs, that are coming from the movie studios and the energy or investment banking companies prefer and are used to.

Of couse the new "Fordian" methods don`t please the creative minds, and they leave in search for greener pastures, with more freedom. Utopic? Maybe, we`ll see, but the merge off the small teams in wider more faceless teams can prove to be a mistake, it works on industry standard console games, i suspect that will cause more defections and less brilliant games accordingly on the PC side of the industry.

We`ll see...

Doesn't Vivendi owns Diageo wich in turn owns smirnoff and other spirits of sorts?

Maybe they could dispense "free samples" in their "X" rated games.

For the prevention of disease, and snake bite, of course.......
